What is with the sale of short barreled crypto builds on that other site? Buy the upper and the lower separately unregistered then combine them at your risk. This doesn't seem like it is going to help us keep this new rifle around for long. To be clear that site name seems to be banned here hence not naming it but if you like guns and are not dumb as a post you should be able to figure it out.

Every other fun gun has been made prohibited, what makes you think this one will escape the ban hammer? The liberals were scheduled to update (add to) their list in a couple weeks. And if it’s already/destined to be prohibited, what difference does it make to put a short barrel on, is it now double extra secret prohibited?
The crypto doesn't even need to be added to a list. It doesn't have an FRT yet, so they can just ban it by giving it a P classification from the hop. Like they did with the RS-Q1, which was sold as NR for a while before getting an FRT which declared it as impacted by the first OiC ban.
As for short barreled builds on the other site, sounds like people trying to sell R guns to people without an R endorsement on their license... Personally I stay away from GumPost, too many weird and sketchy things going on over there...

Yes. A banned 18.5” cyptro would be covered by the amistry. A unregistered short cyptro would be an illegally Prosessed gun. You’d be in jail and all your guns taken. As they can not be registered at this time.
Haha, I forgot about this thread. The longer you look at it, the worst it gets. $1600 parts "kits" with no upper/lowers, 16" barrels for NR guns, assembly services, custom built unregistered restricted firearms with some assembly required. It's gold, Jerry!
My understanding is you can have the short barrelled upper and the lower but it is not considered a restricted firearm unless assembled. You could buy the pieces together or separate. Once assembled it is a restricted firearm and you have 30 days to get it registered. It could not leave the house because as a restricted you need an ATT. There was a 9mm milsurp that seemed common (for dealers and individuals) to sell as NR with the long barrel and include the original short barrel as well.
That to say this isn’t new.

16" barrels for NR guns? They make no claims of the gun being NR, in fact quite the opposite?
Nothing new here. Guys are doing this sort of thing with Ruger PC9s too (at least they were pre-ban). ATRS was selling 9" barrels for 'em, and as a takedown it takes no tools or time to swap between 18.5" NR factory barrel and a shorter aftermarket barrel. If you do the swap at the range you're not transporting it, so ATT doesn't come into effect. You WOULD be using a restricted firearm without a registration certificate though.

The company that released it promises its legal to use. That fact has not been proven by any legal authority. It’s entirely possible it’s been illegal since day 1. Which then makes the company, stores selling , and all buyers criminals.
