I finally got my Colt Python home, and now I need to find a decent range in the Red Deer area.
I've been out to the Red Deer Shooting Sports range once, but I think they close up for the winter.
I've looked at the Red Deer Fish and Game club, and really like the idea of an indoor range, but I don't like the idea of only being able to shoot once a week for a max of two hours.
I know there is a range in Rocky that's supposed to be nice, but I'm not sure if it's worth the drive (likely once every couple weeks).
I've heard of the range south of Rimbey, but don't know what kind of facilities they have and had heard they may be getting shut down.

Any information you could give me on facilities around here would be very much appreciated (covered stations? heated? regular, usable hours? etc). Ideally there would be an indoor club open multiple nights a week, but I don't think such a beast exists within easy driving distance.

Thanks in advance for any information,

Red Deer Fish & Wildlife Range, 20 km west of Penhold

Handgun bay 25 Meter

50, 100 and 200 Meter rifle range

The handgun area holds 2 shooters...rifle bay hold 4 shooters. If you go on the weekends, well enjoy the company but on weekdays it's usually pretty quite.

Mountain View Marksman's Association range is a great range and well kept.

I was at the fish and game range today , a tad windy , but a well kept range all new backstops including a new pistol one . i live in Red Deer and its about 18 mins to range from my place 11A to first range road past golf club straight south till you come to range apx 8km. and there is a new wood stove behind the coverd shooting area . in case it gets a tad chillie . access in the winter time would be difficult though because its quite the slope to drive down to the range.
The Blindman valley club has some metal pistol plinking targets , metal cylinders and resettable knockdown plates, Also gets snowed in in winter

The indoor range in Red Deer is 2x/week mondays and wensdays.
Arno made up new target holders and I think he is planing on changing the firing positions (smaller table,no door).
