Yes , folks tried ordering the #43 , 2.31" for an objective lens , by Butler Creek, from Brownells . Was told that "the manufacturer has instructed that these CANNOT be shipped outside the U.S.
( Guess we Canadians can't be trusted with such a dangerous item , -- what next,---- no socks for us either!)

So any suggestions as to where I can find one of these bad boys, would be much appreciated.

------as a sidebar btw , They DID TAKE my order for scope covers for an AimPOINT comp4 , ZERO problems !! ;)

Restricted?! How stupid is that?!

Bass Pro, Cabelas and LeBaron carries the Butler Creek covers. If they have your size in stock is a good question. There are a couple sizes I wanted to get but has been "backordered" for some time. GRRR!

Butler Creek probably has an exclusive export arrangement with another business. It is not the product that is not exportable, it is that Butler Creek has given someone else exclusive export rights.

Sounds like the US Military has put a Nato Stock Number on them for one of their platforms. ITAR is the ###est thing in the world.

I ordered scope caps and a kill flash for my ACOG and it took 3-4 months to be approved by the State Department.

Cripes! I just got the same message from Brownells. Had I known beforehand, I wouldn't have wasted my time.

I was hoping this thread would have the solution to this problem. Seems nobody in my area carries #14 and #28. They say they can special order, but they're also asking for an extra $5 for shipping and the bastards want $13 for each cap! What a crock of ####!

Exactly! I ran into the same problem and Brownell's notified me that due to a contract agrement with Butler Creek, they can't export them to Canada.

Nothing to do with ITAR or US DOS

This has nothing to do with ITAR.

Completely based on Butler Creek's distribution agreements. Butler Creek must have an exclusive agreement with someone for importation into Canada.

We know! It's been said already.

Having said that...

No way I'm paying that kind of money for caps from Cabela's. Ridiculous!

To the OP..... I tried to order a "Sun Shade" for my Vortex 6.5-20x44PA, and it too was Restricted! those hollow, threaded aluminum tubes are DEADLY! This whole ITAR thing has gone wayyy overboard. IMO, its freaken rediculous! And makes my blood boil....Its ridiculous!

As stated before, it has nothing to do with ITAR.
