Hey all.....just trying to figure something out here
heres the story...
Im still fairly new at all this but do now own some restricteds

so my dads buddy has a 9mm Radom that his father brought back from WW2
It has just been sitting there for years and i remember seeing it as a kid

Anyhow, I called him and ask him if he still had it. He told me yes and that he was thinking about calling the police to come and get it because he has no use for it. Obviously I told him I would take it off his hands. So here is the problem. I know it hasnt been registered. I think it may have been before the gun registry was put into place, and obviously he doesnt have a PAL

So how can I put this gun in my name, and at the same time not get him in any trouble for owning an unregistered resticted firearm.

hopefully someone out there can help me out

Thanks

hmm

Perhaps you could call the CFC, or the CFO's office. If anyone should know the answer to your question, it's them. Although, there is an amnesty, I don't know how they will respond to a restricted firearm not being registered. Though on the other hand, I wouldn't think your case is unique.

Under the circumstances, you should be able to fall under the amnesty with little trouble to yourself or your Dad's buddy, as it was returned from WW2 as many others were and at the time registration was not needed for military personnel. But definitly call your local Firearms Officer or CFC just to be sure

I did the same thing a while back.Call your CFO and ask his advice. They may want you to turn it in untill it's in your name.Try to avoid doing that because it could slow things down alot.Is this gun a prohib.because if it is then your probably screwd unless it can be modified like installing a longer barrel or whatever.

Register A Radom

Just get it verified, and when you register it on line just mark it as "Previously unregistered". The Radon isn't prohibited so you shouldn't have any problems. One thing you should look at is belonging to a gun club before trying to register it. If you don't belong to a gun club you would have to be a collector, well in NB that's the way they want it.
I registered a Luger frame on Dec 10 2002 for a gentleman, and he had a longer barrel installed. He was waiting for the registration to be completed and then have it amended to account for the barrel. Got a letter saying it was prohibited because of the frame and any barrel could be put on. I called the Verifiers technician December 2008, and told them it had a longer barrel it wasn’t any problem getting it registered. Only took 6 years but got it completed.
If you say it came from your dad or another individual there are strings attached and more questions to answer. Keep it simple.
