I just started the transfer process on a handgun I purchased on EE. Could any of you gentleman that have recently completed a private transfer in ON let me know how long it took?

In the last six years I've had transfers take from four days to seven weeks, I'm hoping they're on the shorter end of the scale currently.

Thanks,
Steve

Have you guys tried to call the CFO department? And ask for them to fasttrack it? It usually takes 48 hours here in alberta, but I call in and the get it authorized right away

I'm going through this but in Quebec , I called the cfo's office yesterday to see what the hold up was ( it's been 6 business days). The guy on the phone at the CFO's office tells me they are up to date on all their restricted transfers , then looks into my reference number and tells me that I'm still in my 2 week waiting period... I replied that he'd just told me he was up to date on transfers and he says yes he is up to date on transfers started 2 weeks ago.... Seems some CFO's are making up policy how ever they please...

I recently sold to another CGNEr and it was well over 25 day probably closer to 35 days. I had to call and ask to speak with a supervisor which did the transfer immediately.

Call back and ask for confirmation of the 2 week waiting period in an email. And ask which law mandates it.

Then write a letter to the ombudsman, CC Blaney, CC the CFO. Make sure you make it clear you were told there is a 2 week period mandated by law for a restricted transfer. Attach Tue email to the letter.

It's when it goes to the CFO for review that's when things get held up. I have never had a private transfer take less than three weeks. Longest transfer took one year all because it was an unregistered gun that was being transferred.

I've done a couple of transfers in the last 6 months (Ontario) - longest wait time was about a week - shortest was a few days. I always call once I get the transfer reference number (or failing that I call within a couple of days of making the deal / sending payment) - they confirm details and usually within a day or two I hear that things are good. I've had no reason to complain ...

Going on two weeks for me. Here's hoping C42 eliminates the ability for CFO's to introduce arbitrary delays on lawful restricted transfers.
