Restricted transfer times in ON

Any idea if it's any longer (or more difficult) to process if it's being transferred from Quebec to Ontario?

Cheers:
Eric

I have had a private to private transfer, from Quebec to Ontario take a couple of days once.
(I don't know what my Horoscope was for that day/week.)

Waiting over two weeks now for a private to be approved. Given various time frames upon calling. Last year some were transferred within 4 days and some in 10 days; now it seems like it takes forever. Wonder why...

Call back and ask for confirmation of the 2 week waiting period in an email. And ask which law mandates it.

Then write a letter to the ombudsman, CC Blaney, CC the CFO. Make sure you make it clear you were told there is a 2 week period mandated by law for a restricted transfer. Attach Tue email to the letter.

He never said it was mandated. He just said there a 2 week wait to process but that they were all up to date with restricted transfers...

For those of you in Ontario that are calling to follow up on status of your transfers, who are you calling - RCMP, or CFO directly? If calling Ontario CFO, where is that number listed?

Thanks;
Eric

Just to give a comparison, I am in Quebec (we have our own CFO instead of the RCMP) and bought a pistol from Wolverine Supplies (my first one ever, just got my RPAL last week).
Received the email from wolverine that they initiated transfer on Monday PM. Today is Wednesday PM and the Quebec CFO just called me to ask me to provide a proof of club membership and they will approve transfer as soon as they receive my email. They also told me to send my ATT request at the same time and that they would do that at the same time.

I was fearing 2-3 weeks minimum for processing a transfer in Quebec, never thought another province could be worse than us....

Ok, so far based on the info, you guys are calling the RCMP Canadian Firearms Program center, not the Ontario provincial CFO directly. Thanks, I will keep following up with those folks in that case then.

Cheers;
Eric

Started the transfer of a 12-6 prohib. last week, received the transfer authorization and 30 day pick up ATT today in the mail.

Waiting on two Ontario transfers one is 20 days the other 17 days and counting, seems very suspicions as I just purchased a pistol at Reliable (BC) and I had the transfer approved the next day.

Depends if you purchase Privately or from a store.

I've found that purchases from a store typically take 3-5 days tops where private sale can take 5 - 30 days depending on province and how busy they are

Businesses usually receive priority due to the high volume of sales they have

I purchased a restricted firearm last Saturday, June 6 from a store on consignment. I called on Tuesday, June 9 to check on the store whether it was called in, and it was. I emailed the CFO, was provided a reference #. I called the CFC to check if they needed any further info from me, they verified my details. I was then told that the seller must call in to verify.

I called the store back and informed them that the seller must call in. Store was baffled as it was on consignment. Store will follow up with CFC.

Store called me back on the status, and the owner of the firearm must call in. Apparently, the owner changed address and did not notify the RCMP.

I have a feeling this will drag a little longer than my usual 3-5 day turn around (new firearms purchases).
