Restricted transfer

I just bought a hand gun yesterday and the store called in the transfer. I am wondering how long it generally takes for the CFO to approve the transfer request?

How long should I wait before calling the CFO for a status update?

Right after its approved can i take possession of the firearm?

You should hear something back from the shop you bought it off in a few days to pick it up. I have had them "pend" for as long as a month.

Thanks for the response. The store told me i should phone the CFO tomorrow and ask for a update. Is this necessary?

As it's your first, it may take up to two weeks, usually within one business week but also depends on the province...

did you have to call the CFO? or will he just fax something off to the store and the store will contact me?

Call them. You have the Transfer Number from the store,right? You belong to a Gun Club,righ? Thats all you need. They will fax or email the transfer, and the short term ATT to take it home. I bought a gun from Proline, had the Regitration done in an hour and a quarter, had the gun on the range an hour and a half after that.

yea i am a gun club member and have the reference number handy.

I will give them a call tomorrow.

fax them a copy of your club membership and get your LTATT at the same time
