There will be an informal bullseye rifle match at the AMA outdoor facility on Saturday 10 March starting at 1000.

We will be having breakfast at the Big Stop in Enfield at 0830, for whoever would like to join us. Registration at the range starting at at 0930. The cost is $5.

The course of fire will be two strings of ten on score, with more strings if we can depending on how many show up.

We will spend some time before we shoot for score to get everyone on paper for those who may not have a 280 yard zero! :D

This is an open match, no memberships required. Anyone in the Halifax area who would like to haul out their centre-fire rig and join us, by all means come out and let the wind blow the winter stink off you.

I will check here periodically for questions/pms.

Emphasis on informal - this won't be the olympics. Come out and burn some powder. There may be a 280 yard Oreo cookie shoot at the end for bragging rights. :p

edit: Any caliber, any rig, any rest, any sights. Run what you brung. There are two benches on site for the BR guys to fight over - we will squad appropriately to allow folks to use them.

If someone has a .50, please bring it. :D

Here's the butcher's bill:

Ron 97-5v 93-4v 190-9v
Pete 97-1v 100-4v 197-5v
Alex 88-1v 87-0v 175-1v
Mort 41-0v 60-0v 101-0v
Leo 0 0 0
P14shooter 87-0v 85-1v 172-1v
Fat Tony 27-0v 44-0v 71-0v

We had a great day on the range, with a brisk wind and temps about -8c, and a couple of flurries that almost obscured the targets a few times.

Mort and Leo were thumping away with their black powder cartridge rifles, Mort's was 45-70. Leo had no zero at 280 and had some issues getting on paper. We're expecting much better numbers from him next time.

Alex is a new shooter and made a very respectable showing.

All in all a great day followed by beer and grub at Curly's Pub.

Thank you all for coming out, hopefully Ron can post the pic he took of the snowmen in action.

Stay tuned for the next one - try out your load in below zero conditions!

Best, and good shooting, :D

good for you guys for running something, anything this time of year! I wish I was closer- hard to justify making the trek from NB to shoot an informal to the better half. Now if she was going to be gone for the weekend...

Shooting, hot food, cold beer!
What is there to justify?
There must be some shopping or something for the woman in our lives to do?
We will just have to make better plans next time to accommodate our out of town friends.
Ron.

Drop them off at the MicMac Mall or the Bayers Lake area...ooops...am I stereotyoing???

Busy better Halfs

Spent a couple of afternoons sharing benches out side at Dartmouth Crossing with frustrated guys who would have willingly spent all day in a gun shop or range, instead of shopping for frilly stuff. Do it (again) and they will come. Smiling Bluenosers outside...gotta love it.

I have to work next weekend, but the following Saturday of 7 March is a possibility, pending the range road remaining open and drivable.

Ron suggested an Oreo shoot at 280yds, as eggs wouldn't show up well against the white snow background. :D

Same details as post #1, including breakfast.

We managed 20 rounds and a handful of sighters each last time for ammo planning purposes and we have a tarp for shooters to go prone and two benches for the "other" crowd. :p

Any takers?

Hey, good pic of a target for folks to eyeball.

As you can see, the 10 ring is roughly a minute and the v is about a half minute. With no wind flags it is a good challenge.

I think I have another Garand guy convinced to come out next time Tony!
