Retailers taking pinned 5/20 mags out of boxes??

Wasn't the same thing being done with Norc pistols? came with two mags from the factory, but was sold with one. And a blank spot for a mag in the case.

It's like charging extra for floor mats and mud flaps. Some dealers charge, some throw them in for 'free'. If you don't like the deal and store XYZ, buy it somewhere else.

To use an accurate car analogy taking bits out of the box as supplied by the manufacturer is akin to removing the rubber pads off the gas and brake pedals or removing the gas cap and then charging more "oh, we have gas caps available for $299 etc etc ". I think it is a very shady practice and amounts to price gouging. Such stores don't get my money.

Analogies aside, If certain dealers are doing this they should be named and avoided as they are essentially ripping you off. How can you trust a dealer that is going out of their way to rip you off. They told me "they came that way" but I wouldn't doubt they removed mags either.

Because they can't give the buyer a modicum of respect for knowing what the firearm comes with from the manufacturer. Missing mag, cleaning kit, sling. It is douchebag move and shows good insight as to whom you are dealing with. It's not a purchase package option. It is skimming what is yours and upselling it to you.

Distributors do this too. I get the fact its a pissoff but the rifles sit in someone elses warehouse first before they get to the store. Good chance if someone thought of it at the store someone would have started doing it in the distributor warehouse first. Just cause the spot for the mag to go is in the packaging doesnt mean it was intended to come that way. Look at the Tapco SKS kits, they have a spot for the mag and other gear, but it wont ship that way because they just use one packaging setup. Its not as if Norinco is above trying to cut costs on shipping.

Thye did that back inthe day with my AK. No sling, no cleaning kit and 1 mag. The styrofoam insert had spots for all of it. Now adays I would know better and speak up but in the end they own the goods and can split it up and sell it however they want.
