Retain Irons?

I'd rather have a rifle with a primary optic, offset red dot and a PEQ vs irons. Ideally you'd stll retain backup irons but in your case I'd trade em for use of a PEQ/LAM.

I recently came across this same issue. I bought a magnifier for the red dot I currently have on my rifle and ditched the irons in favor of better eye relief on the magnifier.

In the future I may consider a set of offset irons and/or an lvpo once I’m bored of the red dot / magnifier combo.

In the hundreds of people I've seen run through 3-gun matches, I've never seen a single one need to take an optic off and revert to irons.

I've seen it once.

At a PCC match. A shooter's red-dot failed after his first shot.
After trying unsuccessfully to get the dot to turn back on, he deployed his folding back-up sights and shot the rest of the stage.

Mind you; With the time it took to get the sights up and running, plus the extra time it took to shoot each target, his score for that stage was insanely bad.
He didn't really gain anything (score wise) vs just taking a zero for the stage. But I suppose it was more fun.

I'm sure you're right about that particular scenario, but it does depend on the stage (and the match). I can imagine someone who really had their stuff dialed in not necessarily losing too much time.

Also, if your optic goes down and can't be fixed between stages, BUIS would let you finish the match, right? Again, mostly theoretical.
