Retaining allen screw size for the castle nut?

I am going to remove the FH on my M-14 and can't seem to figure out what size the retaining allen screw for the castle nut is? Anyone know? Otherwise I am just going to drill the damn thing out...

Back when I competed with M1A's and real USGI M14's... we used a # 6 x 32 tpi set screw for the castle nut. On the Norinco M14's, it's a metric puppy. I cannot help you there....

I think it takes a 2.5 mm allen key. Sometimes you can use a torx driver to unscrew them.

I took a 2mm allen key and filed it down till it fit. I have the flash hider off now. It only took a little tap to remove it.

I think it would've been easier to just go to canadian tire..... lol ..Then again, I'd pretty much look forward to any excuse to go in there

Went to canadian tire, bought every fu*king allen key there, metric and SAE. None of them fit...all either too small or too big.

they must have changed that since i got mine- it was a standard SAE - i was able to get a bunch of them at bolt supply house- or house of tools- it's not that they that odd, it's just cdn tire doesn't carry them in their sets- metric thread, but sae head- f
