Retarded Club Rules?

No firing line lights either.

Seems like a lot of old fogies run some clubs. Unenlightened.
What about a club that fixes a tired old range that was on the brink of failing, then remodells nicely. They hit the members up for some remodelling costs but hammer all new members with the costs too.
So new, potential members have to shoulder the cost too. That's like a new car dealer rebuilding his old tired dearlership and charging all the new car purchasers with remodelling costs. Doesn't work right?
The extra charge is more than another dealer charges, so the new car buyer, [or potential club member] goes to another dealer who sells for less...
 
Welland Handgun Club has that rule too, I'm happier at Silverdale anyway. I don't have to deal with a table full of old guys grousing about everything on my way through to the range.

It's also because of the crap some of the surrounding anti's have called the CFO on(way to many inspections).

At least now the CFO knows the anti's near Barrie are completly full of shyt and have complained with false accusations. And the LEO Sgt's know this as well.
 
A club around here has the 5 round rule. I will not be renewing my membership with them.
 
The 5 shot " rule " goes way back.
When bullseye was the only handgun discipline, it was shot in strings of 5. So everyone thought in 5's.
A lot of ammo comes in boxes of rows of 5 & a lot of club (Ontario) probation shoots are 5 at a time.

Having been around the sport for a " few " years I know that a number of the older shooters still think of 5 maximum. If I saw that rule at a club I would NOT join it. I believe that if a shooter is trusted to shoot alone then let them fill it to the legal maximum.
 
WOW, look at all these cool rules..

Give me some more of them cool rules so I can implement them at our club. I just love making my fellow shooters jump through hoops for no sound reason.

Give me at least 12 so I can give them a new one every month.

You cannot refer to a gun as a "weapon"

[cause if you did, you'd wanna shoot someone... (and you pay a penalty of a "toonie" in case you say the 'w' word)]

someone asking me for a toonie in that case would result me instantly removing myself, and hopefully all of my friends, from said club.

People who force you down a certain path because they consider it tradition should be sterilized to prevent further contamination of the gene pool.

As for the idiotic "rows of five" ? My boxes come in what you could consider ten rows of five, or five rows of ten. If it comes down to personal interpretation, they have no business forcing their bias onto you.

Sh*t like this is why I shoot alone at the EOHC, away from everyone else. I can't stand this garbage.

That's a different situation altogether though, wouldn't you agree?

If we're talking about new shooters, I always start them out with two sets of one round, then two, five... and finally, the full magazine.

I was in a club in calgary everything nice and confi, and then pammmm big mistake, y move to ontario, everybody thinks you are a criminal because you have guns, you cant apply for you own att they always thing you are lying and in top of that you have to go to class like a teenager and show a whole bunch of old guys the you know how to shot a weapon like you are a little kid o something and not a almost a 44 years old ex army captain. gimme a break. i thing they just have to much free time get a job or something.

wow... sounds like y'all get treated like a bunch of wet behind the ears diaper wearing pre-pubesent taliban sheep shaggers..... you should all move out west... we could sure use the extra support when it comes time to seperate :D

the law say's 10 in the grip is legal so who am i to not follow the letter of the law? :p
 
I've belonged to this one club for about ten years... For ten years I was allowed to show up during shooting hours and shoot.... Alone. By myself.
Within the last year or so somehow it's become necessary that the club adopt a "No shooting alone" policy. :confused:
This policy in itself has pretty much killed my ability to make use of the facility which I've paid dues for...
I work shifts and am often off during the week... I used to be able to spend say a Tuesday morning at the range.... Now that same Tuesday outing would involve either finding some other like minded shooter to meet me at the range or risk driving all the way out there in the hope that someone is gonna be there to share the range with... Of course "if" there is someone there your shooting ends as soon as they decide to leave.
 
I'm thankful I'm a member that doesn't have any ridiculous rules... What the hell does 5 in the mag matter compared to 7 or 10?? You're at a shooting range for Christ's sake. Whoever runs these ranges with these idiotic rules should be force-fed a bowl of steaming hot cabbage laced with concentrated ex-lax and an audio cassette of Wendy Cukier's anti-gun spiel, standing on one foot and with no toilet to take a dump in or throw up in for 50 miles :)
