Retarded Club Rules?

I'm thankful I'm a member that doesn't have any ridiculous rules... What the hell does 5 in the mag matter compared to 7 or 10?? You're at a shooting range for Christ's sake. Whoever runs these ranges with these idiotic rules should be force-fed a bowl of steaming hot cabbage laced with concentrated ex-lax and an audio cassette of Wendy Cukier's anti-gun spiel, standing on one foot and with no toilet to take a dump in or throw up in for 50 miles :)

+1 to that. I'm in the same boat as the guy who USED TO shoot alone - there's never anyone on the range when I'm up there, is it ever nice. Too bad some idiot had to ruin that one for you.

If we follow the rule of 5 then..

I've belonged to this one club for about ten years... For ten years I was allowed to show up during shooting hours and shoot.... Alone. By myself.
Within the last year or so somehow it's become necessary that the club adopt a "No shooting alone" policy.
This policy in itself has pretty much killed my ability to make use of the facility which I've paid dues for...
I work shifts and am often off during the week... I used to be able to spend say a Tuesday morning at the range.... Now that same Tuesday outing would involve either finding some other like minded shooter to meet me at the range or risk driving all the way out there in the hope that someone is gonna be there to share the range with... Of course "if" there is someone there your shooting ends as soon as they decide to leave.

This rule should be scraped from the club books and replaced with "no shooting alone, you can only shoot if there are 5 members present".:D

There, that does it. See how simple it is to make the world a safer place.

####, I love being the guy in charge!

Please tell me English isn't your mother tongue...
not its not its french

At my club in Northern Ontario we have new members without an ATT take a few range sessions with our club safety trainer till he is satisfied the new shooter is safe and then the club applies for your ATT then your on your own. We can shoot alone , load as many or few rounds as we choose etc. Thank God I do not live in southern Bantario.

Like I said it sucks that you need another person there but it all comes down to the safety side of it..God forbid that an accident should happen or you fall over from a heart attack how would you get help if nobody will be there all day..It is also a liability issue with the insurance company..Ya it would be great to be able to shoot alone but I bet anyone of you would wish another person was there if you were in a world of pain...

That's it!

You have me convinced. No shooting alone at our club anymore.

I have researched it and most of our shooters are over the age of 30 so heart attacks are a probability so you are right.

And now I am going to write them all an email on how they should change their diets if they want to continue being a member in good standing.

I love how this makes things so much easier.

Life is good in fairy land.

Now there is an educated response..I'm just saying that its not such a bad thing safety wise and all you can come up with for a response is some smart a$$ answer...Why dont you try stating how you think its safe to shoot alone..Also judging by your grade 5 response your one of those people who should not be shooting alone..

I did grade 5 twice...

So that means I have grade 10, right?

Well, you know that driving is probably more dangerous than shooting alone.

I don't have the stats in front of me but I would bet that more people are killed/die while driving alone that killed/die while shooting alone so if only makes sense by your logic that we should mandate that no one drives alone.

That would be more feel good rules according to your logic.

I take safety seriously, I take it seriously every day on work sites and the people working under me go home every day after completing tasks that could cause injury and a lot of the time they do it alone.

We all don't need our hand held.

How many instances can you relate where shooting alone was a safety problem? I'm not aware of any at our club or others. In fact, the last accident at a club I'm aware of was in front of a large crowd.

At least ACC was smart enough to leave Ontario.

Fortunately the two shooting clubs to which I belong, both in Ontario, treat the members like the adults they are. It is suggested that we don't shoot alone but there isn't some lameass excuse on why shooting alone is banned such as "it's about your safety, might have an accident, might fall over, have a heart attack..."

And it's not an insurance requirement. Both my clubs are insured and shooting alone is permitted.

I, unfortunately, moved from BC to Ontario, and have just finished my "probation" period at the local range. It's done, and I have my LTATT, so I may now do as I please, but I do not agree with the system being in place.

And Superbike, the not shooting alone thing is just ridiculous. How did they get to the range? If they came in two vehicles, their as likely to have a heart attack on the way there or the way home, are they not? You should push for a new rule - fire team partners at ALL TIMES, to and fro, at home, at work, at school, in bed, the shower, the kitchen; who knows when misfortune could strike?

the shoot with another person rule is retarded... infact you've just doubled the number of ppl who could be injured in an unintentional or intentional accident... atleast if a dude is shooting alone all he could do is hurt himself... and also most ppl have jobs and are not retired plinkers... i dont have the time or energy to go lookin for a 'buddy' to shoot with! as a kid i'd head out into the woods and spend time shooting alone and now the woods are gone so we have to make do with clubs

I hunt alone, drive alone, hike alone, and shoot alone- All the time.

No shooting alone is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Why don't we "what if" every possible scenario. Then we will end up with no shooting except with emergency personnel in attendance, and 5 supervisors per one shooter.:)
