Retarded Club Rules?

Wow there are some dumb rules out there.

I have 3 memberships at 3 different ranges and the only rules are the basic ones. No shooting before or after daylight, paper targets and provided metal targets only, clean up your brass and targets afterwards, and, obivously, no shooters past the firing line after the range is live.

Who comes up with these mag restriction, probationary, no shooting alone rules. It's rules like this that keep people from joining ranges.

So that means I have grade 10, right?

Well, you know that driving is probably more dangerous than shooting alone.

I don't have the stats in front of me but I would bet that more people are killed/die while driving alone that killed/die while shooting alone so if only makes sense by your logic that we should mandate that no one drives alone.

That would be more feel good rules according to your logic.

I take safety seriously, I take it seriously every day on work sites and the people working under me go home every day after completing tasks that could cause injury and a lot of the time they do it alone.

We all don't need our hand held.

Greg

I understand what your point is but what you dont seem to see is IF something were to go wrong its an easy reason for the goverment to say "This is why we should ban guns" We are trying to hold on to our right to own a gun and some of there ruels are stupid but its what the CFO wants and its what we have to comply with...I didn't make the rules I just think its not a bad idea...Yes more people will die driving a car alone because more people drive cars than own a gun so your point makes no sense...And Your key word you used twice was "alone"So my point was if your not ALONE you stand a better chance of living from an accident..There was a guy in Ontario that was at a gun range and loaded his magazine and went to #### the slide on his handgun when the firearm went into full auto, with that going on the recoil sent the gun right up under his chin and he shot himself in the head.He lives to tell about it and why......He was NOT alone....

How many instances can you relate where shooting alone was a safety problem? I'm not aware of any at our club or others. In fact, the last accident at a club I'm aware of was in front of a large crowd.

At least ACC was smart enough to leave Ontario.

Its called an accident for a reason...You just might be alone when one happens:eek:

Like I said it sucks that you need another person there but it all comes down to the safety side of it..God forbid that an accident should happen or you fall over from a heart attack how would you get help if nobody will be there all day..It is also a liability issue with the insurance company..Ya it would be great to be able to shoot alone but I bet anyone of you would wish another person was there if you were in a world of pain...

Well... in over 50 years I haven't heard of one death either due to accident or illness on the range.

You could also turn it around and say that it's safer to be alone on the range... The more people milling about the more guns on the firirng line the more chance someone's gonna get hurt....

I bet more people drop dead while sitting on the toilet, but I'm not taking a friend with me when I go for a dump.

There is a club here in Nova Scotia that shuts the entire outdoor range down for the entire winter, I think they open it up in May and it's shut down in October. They really must be hurting for funds to keep it plowed / etc, but I can't prove it but I quite suspect they lease it out to gov't agencies as much as they possibly can - so are they letting the gov't agencies in there for free to shoot on off - days? - so why don't they have $ to keep the f**king thing open. They also have a rule that if you join their pistol shooting league that you have to start off with .22lr  Nothing like being treated like a f**king kiddie. I however like my new club, where you get treated like a MAN. :D

The "no shooting alone" requirement is not a CFO rule in Ontario. Nor is it a requirement for liability insurance. Otherwise there wouldn't be clubs in the province where it's not required but recommended.

It is however a requirement of meddlesome fusspot club executives who have let a unique blend of power and paranoia go to their heads. To mandate the "buddy system" and claim it is an attempt to preserve gun rights is ridiculous.

wow, all these clubs rules seem pretty lame, must take the fun outa it if you have all these extra regulations.

at my club your not allowed alcohol or drugs. and you have to clean up your mess. thats pretty we'll it other than common sense stuff like dont cross the firing line when the range is hot.

Exactly!

Wouldn't one believe that shooting alone would be the safest? Unless you're so careless at handing a firearm that you may shoot yourself in the foot...

Safety isn't an issue when shooting alone... since when did hunters always group 2 or more?

Hard to say what's more ridiculous... the fact that you need to implement these $hitty rules... or have deer 'camps' with people designated for cleaning other people's game...etc... make no wonder we're in the shape we're in... Who are these loonies??

For everyone who goes out and fires 10 shots as fast as he or she can and get a kick out of it, should be shooting in gravel pits with 200' burms all around you, not out at shooting ranges showering brass on shooters beside you. I see them at club I am a member of there hitting the 300 & 300 yard and over the 300 burms when shooting at 100 yards.not to mention what happens to frames.
I have seen a Win Model 100 malfunction with 5 rounds in it and go to Auto mode 5th shot was at 90d to target and gun ended out of shooters hands, imagine what might have happened if he had his aftermarket ten shot clip in gun.

OUTRAGE!

- And ppl wantonly and cavalierly shooting at targets and beating up the frames, that's the worst thing I have ever heard of!

lol, yup, people having fun with guns, how horrible! I have no idea why people put these rules in place. Just like to control other people and feel important, I guess. 5 rounds, 10 rounds, 150 rounds, who cares? - dan

Which is why I always have trauma kit on my person when I'm at the range.

If I managed to shoot myself, it wouldn't be an "accident", it would be negligence on my part and I'd deserve the consequences of my actions.
