Retina detaching rifles

There can't be many #1s in 460wby kicking around. I wonder if the one I have is the same one?

I've shot 2 #1's in 460 WBY now. One belonged to icehunter. Thanks, buddy!!! I've also shot 460 WBY in bolt actions rifles. I *think* that's the most powerful cartridge I've shot through sporter weight rifles, and while the recoil was very very real, they weren't horrible. Not sure I would want to do 50 at a bench in a sitting, but not horrible. :)

I've also shot a hundred 50BMG's, through my rifle but most of the 50 rifles are usually heavy and braked. I dont' like brakes but with the 50 it's ok.

Honestly the most uncomfortable rifles to shoot for me have always been Moison Nagants from prone. Fricking hate those things and I would prefer to shoot 50 375 Ruger than 5 from the Nagant. I still won a shooting competition at one of the Haggisfests with a Nagant, but I hate them. :)

Wasn't it you that said people who enjoy shooting a Nagant from prone also probably enjoy being flogged by women in black leather?

I never found the full size Mosin to be bad from prone. The M39 or M44 Carbines are bad on the shoulder though. The Jungle Carbine (real ones, the look a likes are heavier) are seriously uncomfortable from prone.

Funny how the anemic military cartridges can be so much more punishing than the world's most powerful sporting cartridges. Goes to show how stock design affects felt recoil.

Stickhunter's slightly light .505 Gibbs wins here with Superior Ammunition's loads. It's totally manageable but made the .450 Rigby, which was loaded faster than .458 Lott and is essentially an unbelted .460 Weatherby, feel slightly milder. I shot about 50 or a few more rounds between the two one afternoon doing a video and that was enough, was pleased when it was over. Kind of like passing a driver's test as a teenager, once you're done it was great, during, it's manageable if not an altogether pleasant experience. Especially if you're trying to actually hit stuff in a hurry not just experience the ride.
