First off i had to kick myself today for scratching up my new shotgun at the range. Lesson 1 : Be careful how you place your shotgun on a concrete table. Anyow i picked up my shotgun after checkin my target and noticed that i made a 1.5-2 inch scratch on the barrel of my newly acquired 590 shotgun. Does anyone know a good way to touch up the scratch on a dark grey parkerized gun? its not too deep but compared to the whole barrel it is shiny with a little bit of the silver metal showing.... Any suggest would help . Thanks.....

Rug some gun oil into the parkerized finish and don't worry about it.
Bring a towel or blanket to the range.
The best thing about parkerizing is it's ability to hold oil and the finish seems to look and wear better when it's oiled.

Repete i have done a search on "Cold Blue" but come up with nothing the only thing close to it is called "Birchwood-Casey Perma Blue Paste Gun Blue", which is used albiet to also renew finishes of gun barrels. Anyhow where can you find Cold Blue ? at the local gun and ammo stores?

Lesson I have learned... it is possible to make a scratch much worse if you try too much to get rid of it ;)

As Repete suggested - then just try to forget about it :) (Been there and done it~!)

Merry Xmas!

hahah i know what you mean G37 . Man i have tried everything from using spray paint on a cue tip to rubbing copius amounts of oil on it.... it just gets to me that i have had the shotgun for 2 days an already scratched it.... Everytime i look at my shotgun i can't help but stare at the scratched part of the barrel.:(

Cold Blue can be bought at most gun shops.

If you can get the B-C Perma Blue Paste, go for it. G96 Creme Blue is good too.

But the point is, any blueing is good.

RePete.
