I'm putting some parts together to start an XM177 build, though I might have to go with the forward assist and shell deflector since SP1 reciever styles are hard to come by. I was told that apparently we can't import any of NoDak Spud's retro parts up here, is that true?

More importantly, does anyone have a source for the old-fashioned Car-15 style buttstocks?

Thanks much

If you start with a complete SP1, you'll be miles ahead - then you're just looking for a barrel, bolt (to be safe), knock off flash hider (you can't have the real one) and furniture. The majority of SP1's were no fence, slick side models. Also if you do it that way, it'll say Colt on the side. For the furniture, try a WTB on the EE.

A norc cq311 will get you pretty close then you would need a barrell, gas tube and a carbine buffer, tube and stock. and an A1 grip and 6 hole handguards. You can sell all the stuff you take off too offset your costs.

A genuine Colt N 1 stocks run around $125-$150. They aren't made anymore.

Be aware that the Norc CQ311 (fixed handle upper) is not as compatible as recent (CQA) Norcs - lots of frustrating metric threads and pins. Can an importer like Irunguns not get you a NoDak set??

The problem with NoDak is that as soon as they get a batch of uppers/lowers done they are sold out pretty much that day.

Well like recce said, NoDak sells out lightning fast, but I heard we can't get their kits specifically(might just be gunshop rumor, don't know if it counts as an M16 variant). Otherwise I'll give an importer a shout and put an order out for, maybe early 2014 or something. Whenever they get to it.

I contacted both Irunguns and Profit River about importing one. Both said that they hadn't done so yet but that they would try.

I looked at the info that Profit River has on its site about importing and NoDak is not listed in the banned dealer/individuals according to the U.S. Though this doesn't necessarily mean than they can be exported.

I have decided to wait to see how the buying frenzy pans out down south before I try to get one brought in by P.R.

Usually companies still need to be registered with the US Department of State to be exportable.

Even if you get the parts and try to export one the US State Department may deny the permit if they aren't registered. I don't think being registered is a big deal at all, as long as they ARE you can have them exported.

With exports, the thing you need to have is an FFL in the US - NoDak ships (sells) to the exporter's FFL, once the FFL receives the parts, NoDak has no further responsibility. The FFL holder then becomes responsible for the legal transfer of the parts (firearm). Effectively, from a legal standpoint, even if the parts are exported, NoDak didn't sell it to you, their liability ends with the FFL they sold it to.

I'll give both Irunguns and NoDak a call on monday, and see what the final word is, although I think NoDak can get in trouble for knowingly selling parts to a third party for an international sale without proper tax registration, or something like that. The end user deal, and all.
