Not sure if there already is one so lets start one

ARF has a whole section on retro Armalites and Colts...

Top 1976 SP1
Bottom 1969 SP1

....very Apocalypse Now...

Been trying hard to find a 1:9 pencil barrel for my A1 build.

They are hard to come by.

I may have to settle with selling my 20" government barrel and buying a complete A1 upper with barrel :(

I was about to buy a nice SP1 a ways back but I ran into a financial situation so I had to back out :(

I had to build my own from scratch as most AR stuff on ou rmarket is for modern tacti-### type rifles lol

Anyhow here's my pretty close attempt at an A1, it's the only AR I own and the only type I ever wanted to own:

This is 20 rounds (2 10 rnd LAR mags) from the sitting position at 100 meters with her:

I love the look, balance and effectiveness of the original AR15. No time for lazers, rails, buttons and whistles for this guy :D

Most excellent thread. I can't stand the Barbie doll equivalents modern ARs have become. I should pick up an old Colt lower and find a 733 upper for it.

This is the 1982 SP1 I sold in the EE tonight

Someone get that man a leaf pattern jacket

I've posted these before in another thread, but here goes.

It's a Colt Sporter Match HBAR lower mated to an old (not sure of the vintage) SP1 upper. I've added the three prong flash hider.

I kept the original upper which has a Leupold VXII 3-9x40 on it... odd combo I know but it was stuff I had laying around and it's a tack driver! I bought a second (aero precision) lower to assemble a second gun, but I'd love to find an old large pin Colt lower to have two complete Colt rifles.....

Since taking the pics, I picked up a USGI bipod and cleaning kit in the pouch and a Vietnam era M1 helmet with cover. I'd love to find a nice tiger stripe uniform to put together a mannequin display, but I haven't found one yet (admittedly, I haven't been looking overly hard either.

As much as I love M4's and other short-barreled iterations, the guns you fellas have are making me jealous. Keep them coming!
