Retro Scattergun Builds and Discussion Thread

Well, there's plenty of wonder to be found in the latest and greatest, but there's nothing quite like the days of yore. When shotguns were born of steel and wood, and shooters knew better than to weigh them down.

So, for the lot of us who are still attached to the aesthetics and functionality of the past, feel free to speak now or forever hold your piece (yes, yes I did).

If you've got a retro scattergun - by birth or by name - feel free to post a pic, say a few words, or ask a question or two to the true enthusiasts that I know roam these boards.

That's a beautiful, purposeful shotgun. Nice work - I'm leaning towards doing something similar, but I know what you went through to get that light.

Thank you. She's pretty simple, but I like to think of her as 'streamlined'. If it weren't for the help f some great folk on here, I would have been out of luck on the light for a few more years.

The wood wasn't in great shape, so I refinished the stock and forend. Hopefully I'll be able to swap out this stock, and get the set on anot her retro build.

Well, it seems as though there are a few of us that share the same sentiment. Love how the leather sling, and brown recoil pad, tie everything together.

Does anyone know when Remington introduced their extended mag tube for the 870?

I have a 1970 wingmaster, and threw on a blued mag extension, but not sure if it's period correct.

I believe the magazine extension was introduced in the mid-60's, to help round out the AF and USMC MKI shotgun systems.

I have posted this before, but what the heck. The Wingmaster is vintage, the wood and barrel are new, but I still think it has a "vintage/retro" look:
