Retumbo for a 280 rem??

Has anybody tried retumbo in their 280?

I am thinking of using it pushing a 150gr Nosler accubond long range through a 25" barrel.

Any thoughts...

I don't shoot a .280 , but I think it would be more suited to a heavier projectile but don't see any issues with it at all.

I use slower powder in my 25-06 , works well.

Something like either 4350 4831 or Rl 19-22 seems to give the best combo of velocity and accuracy. I think that IMR4350 is just aboiut ideal with 140-150 gr bullets

Max I've loaded for six different 280's and IMR 4831 is THE powder to load. RL 19 is also very good.

I think you'll find that Retumbo is too slow for use in the .280, even under heavy bullets. I'd expect lower than normal velocities, and your loads would be heavily compressed at that.

A pal of mine here finds that Hybrid 100V (similar burning rate as R-19) is ideal in his .280.

I'd still try it as I get good results in a 25-06 with 117gr Berger with H1000

This powder works great in my 25-06! Top end velocities as well. I have used only 120 bullet weights with this powder

I use Reloader 22 in my 280 and have had VG groups in the 140gr tsx bullets!

Great news for Retumbo. I'm still waiting for mine to be delivered.
