Reversing safety switch on 870, whats involved?

I have altered quite a few trigger plate assemblies to convert them to left hand safeties as per the drawing that Remington used to include in their armourer's manual. It involves filling the existing safety detent hole and re-drilling a new one the same distance from the centre line.
It is quite a bit cheaper to do than buying a left hand trigger plate assembly.

As a fellow lefty - Even on guns that I could reverse the safety, I just leave it in RH config. Muscle memory is a powerful thing. :) It would be nice if you could switch ALL guns easily, but since I started with 870/1100, I just got used to it RH safety setup.

It's tough if you have too many guns... I'd get confused under pressure perhaps...

If you have control over the firearm, a proper grip and correct contact with the trigger, yes it is.

Recoil pushes the gun back, not laterally.

Anyhow, accidentally activating a safety is better than accidentally switching it off.

If one must get a left-handed safety, it's better to replace the whole trigger group or have a gunsmith alter it than bubba-ing it. Unless you expect to be under fire, the safety is the single most important component.

;)

Cool story bro, its still not true.

What happens when you wear gloves? Or does this impossible to hit the safety BS only apply in your house and not in the field? What about people with short fingers? What about fat fingers?

Oh yeah I forgot it impossible:rolleyes:

Take the time to learn to shoot a firearm properly.

If you can't, you are a risk to others especially if you think it's BS.

Blaming gloves or fat fingers for one's inability to control a firearm is pathetic at best.

Flame away... tell you what: consider yourself blocked so you can BS in peace.

There's a reason safety's behind the trigger guard are installed a certain way for left or right hand guns. If there isn't than explain to all of us why. BTW your really starting to sound like a troll, please leave if you have nothing intellegent to contribute.

Buy a Mossberg, problem solved
