Review: Barrett MRAD .338 LM by THE Zombie Neutralizers (Hungry & Buzzballer)

Jealous...very jealous....I enjoyed the review and the pics .
That is one nice setup .
And if Barney had his shoot better stick along I would want a helmet on too. ;)

CR: I wanted to bring along a "Shoot Better" stick but I swung through Edmonton and Lloyd on the Yellowhead on my way to Base Dundurn, SK for a 4 day shooting camp. I did not swing down through Wainwright where JayT has a bunch of Diamond Willow sticks for me. :D

For those of you who don't know the "Shoot Better" Stick story; it goes like this:

While in the PPCLI Battle School back in 1977, the instructors would stand over yer shooting position and "whack" you on the helmet in order to encourage you to "Shoot Better". Whenever your recent shot was indicated from the workers down in the Butts and it was not satisfactory, the instructors would 'reward' me with a "Shoot Better" comment and a "thunk" to my steel helmet. :D

Needless to say, I did learn to shoot "First Class Marksman" category, but it was not the type of technique I would recommend at the Faculty of Edumakation in the following years I went to University of Alberta in Edmonchuk. :D And it certainly ain't the method we use at www.tacticalteacher.ca

The humour and story is a fav of mine! Nothing like humour to get you guys to remember the teaching point. :)

And years later, I have a funny story out of all that grief! Ha ha ha ha

Cheers and keep helping the newbies!

Barney

Good man Barney, helping the newbies! Good review boys. I walked into Reliable Gun the other day and there it was...the MRAD. I bought it. Haven't shot it yet as I'm still in the process of getting my dies and also ordered my BORS and rings and also getting over the sticker shock but this is a gun that I'll cherish for as long as I'm alive.

I posted this earlier but what a great rifle I got to shoot down in Raton NM. 3/4 mile cold bore shot made with Barrett MRAD in 338LM with Blackhills ammo. They had electric flashers behind target to give indication of contact. You had to drive through Colonel Coopers personal range to get to this stage.

....

Once we had the rifle adjusted to Buzzballer, it was time for some dry firing and getting used to the position of the gun on the bench and body geometry and all that useful BR fun.

...
Now at one point, someone in the crowd is going to remark about how we don't have the POI directly hitting the POA... well you try doing this adjusting a Schmidt and Bender Milradian scope when each shot is $4.00 a pull (plus taxes) and I did not buy that many from Wolverine Supplies. :) I wanted to group this rifle and there ya go! It's grouped. I don't have much ammo leftover. :) And that's why I shoot a .308 and .260 Rem at the sniper matches. :D

Two things, a cool shooting picture cannot have too many pairs of protective eyewear. And, remember folks, you're not shooting a .338LM, you're shooting five dollar bills.

I have it on good authority ...

Our Buzzballer has since ^ ... serious upgraded he's eyewear, webgear ... and he's bought heself a fair to middl'n good razor too !! ... :p

Yes, irreverent uncle vvik shall continue to take all possible liberties at every possible opportune .. :)

That is one wicked rifle tho, I'd synchronize swim wit a big 'ol boar Beaver, under the ice :runaway:, fer ownerships.
