Review of Minox ZP5

Well, after giving it some more thought....

For me now, I think it's a toss up between the MR2 and the MR4 with the MR4 slightly ahead... I like the idea of having the 0.2 mil hash marks for more precise wind holds. Usually I can see myself dialing for drop and holding for wind... but for me the MR4 seems to have the slight advantage, where, on certain shots you either don't have the time, and/or are perhaps stage limited where you can't expeditiously dial for either... so for me the MR4 gives me 'options'... At least that's how I see it... YMMV.

Perhaps others can chime in with their thoughts?
Cheers

Yes as mentioned above, the stage will not allow you to touch the turrets. These stages are not 1200m, more like 400m ish.

DoubleApexCa:
The two things i liked most about the MR4 was the floating dot and the 0.2 mil wind holds. Ive found that the 0.2 works well with high bc bullets in the 6.5CM/260/x47 etc. The MR2 having the 0.5 mil wind hold I liked better for 223/308 gas guns. They get pushed around a bit more in the wind.

Thanks TJW, your insights are most helpful.

I shot my first PRS match with the new Minox. Very impressed with it. The parallax was very forgiving on stages where you're shooting 200m, 400m, then 600m for example. The MR4 reticle was amazing. There was a stage where a hit to the center flapper at 200m would allow you to move onto 800m. A miss at 800m required another hit at 200m before going back. We had tsunami winds for a couple hours resulting in a lot of misses at 800m. Guys that were dialing timed out fast. I found holding was the way to go and the 1 MIL+ wind holds helped for sure

I have been so impressed with this scope I just added another one - this time with the MR4 ret - very impressed wit the MR5 for what I mostly shoot at but that MR4 will work even better for anyone doing PRS. These are simply excellent scopes.
