Review: Sig 556R - Not what I expected

So were they 'solid hits' or light primer strikes?
I wouldn't suspect anything other than ammo if they were decent firing pin strikes.

Running the light strikes through the AK is fine.. but what about running them through the Sig one more time? Maybe they would have gone off then too?
They did in many cases.

The strikes looked solid, but obviously they weren't. Others have speculated that the 556 and 556R share the same hammer and spring which would cause such failures. The double feeds and failures to eject are the fault of something else obviously.

How would you compare the quality of the Sig mini RDS to the Vortex one?

The RDS didn't look to be of good quality. It had a very heavy bluish/green tint to the glass. However, it seemed to function fine and the rifle shot near the point of aim out of the box. But I wouldn't buy one of the Sig sights if given the option between it and the Vortex. The Vortex seems to be of substantially better quality.

Good review, obviously some serious issues there (I'm thinking they designed the rifle for North American civillian spec ammo - the stuff most shooters don't use because it's four times more expensive) thanks for the review - sometimes prohibited isn't such a bad thing.

If anyone has actually taken a close look at the latest production 556's they would have no trouble believing everthing in the Vid, the OP posted. The U.S. sig 556's truly are junk. the newer ones anyhow. I have yet to handle one I would buy, save for the early models, which were esentially all swiss.

The Sig556 I was able to get some trigger time (friend's) with in the states seemed okay, but I would not consider 90 rounds to be a good judge of quality (Wasn't sure why it had a fixed A2 stock on it either, but whatever). Wasn't exactly impressed by it (maybe I'm just jaded), the fit and finish did not seem as tight and consistent as the SAN's I'm used to.

I could immediately tell the Sig Mini Red Dot Sight was of outstandingly poor quality. I think they are questionable enough on the Sig Mosquito's, let alone a centrefire rifle. Would much rather just save the $20 it adds to the gun (EDIT: The MSRP on the RDS is $199. I... wow... ouch).

This review doesn't surprise me. Some of the #### Sig USA has been peddling these days is shameful. I've mentioned their knockoff red dot POS before. What a way to ruin a brand.

I'm surprised that Sig Germany allows Sig USA to butcher their hard earned brand name. I've had problems with Sig USA products before, and sadly this will be my last Sig USA firearm that I buy.

It's really too bad you can't get the authentic Swiss Arms (that's what the SIG556 is loosely based on). Fit, finish, quality and performance are bar none. There must be some serious QC issues going on - thanks for the review!

MA can't blame you at all. there are much better products than what sig usa is making. the SCAR and HK223 put the 556 to shame. Heck the 100 year old ak 47 is superior to the 556r
