Old style was mk10, the picture clearly says mk12. Either this was a failed prototype or it's a matter of getting the parts I suppose.

From my information, that appears to be a prototype/sampler of a not yet available part set. Once Derya release the parts, we should be able to get them (according to the Distributor)

Parts availability is always a consideration for me so that's great news.

Yes, the upper and lower are retained by takedown pins like an AR15!

That is the manufacturers suggested order of operations. If you are just looking to seperate the upper and lower without accessing the gas system for cleaning, you do not need to take the forend off.
