Revised 45-70 Leverevolution

Just checked the back of 2 boxes of new Hornady Leverevolution

Muzzle velocity down from 2050 to 1875 fps and the revised spec are
+3" at 100 yards and -6.6" at 200 yards (originally +3 at 100 and -4@200)

Poking around the web I found that Hornady admits to a shortage of the original powder.

At the range I found the Leverevolution bullets flying 4" higher@ 100yards.

As expected I had to resight everything in. The bad new is if Hornady changes again I'll have to do everything all over. BIG MISTAKE at $38 a box

Should have stuck with the old tried and tested Winchester

Just a heads up to those thinking of trying Leverevolution

Wish I had known that 2 days ago. Just ordered 2 boxes from Lebaron. I thought was going to be the end all be all of 45-70's. Has anyone used the 30-30 ammo yet? Got 4 boxes of that stuff comimg as well.

Bought mine at the range $33 plus taxes

Grouped nicely but I'm sure it won't turn your 45-70 into a flat shooting 270

I think the other leverevolution offer more but the 45-70 is still a rainbow.

At $2 a pop I just don't want repeat this every year depending on the availability of the special powder

I've run some 30/30 through my 26" barrelled '94 Legacy. Best factory ammo I've put through it so far accuracy-wise. Chrony'd at an average of 2550fps, as opposed to 2480 for WW 150g PowerPoints.

No matter what...if it's expensive it will be the best!
