excellent video!! I just lapped a M1A bolt into my Norinco reciever last week using this method. Even with the 240 grit compound it takes a long time. I only have 20% and 40% contact so far so will do some more now. so far headspace has only increased about .0005 so can't hurt to keep going!

Tony excellent work as always. I can't find the reference but I recall Gus Fisher recommended checking bolt/lug contact after all lapping by re-blackening the bolt lugs and working the bolt in place. ( Identical procedure used to establish what inital contact was.). He stated that even though the lug was shiny from lapping, the contact was somtimes much less than it appeared to be. The final check gave him peace of mind.

Very cool idea to lap the bolt with the magazine in place. It would be interesting to take the bolt used in the video, re-blacken the lugs and check lug contact both with the magazine in place and with it removed.

Does this rifle have fewer fliers as a result of lapping with the bolt under pressure from the magazine?

At time stamp 16:33, that's exactly what you're looking at. I re-blackened the lugs and checked contact after every iteration. I did check it once without the magazine in and contact was reduced and I thought "that can't be right". Then I realized that I hadn't put the magazine in and I checked again and contact was good again.

This is not my rifle and it's been shot very little, so I don't know the behaviors of this rifle. I am going to be using this rifle to perform my glass bedding videos. I had planned on test firing it yesterday, but after I checked lug contact, I decided against it and I decided to correct it before firing.

All you nutz should be grateful that Tony is willing and able to document the awesome info compiled in his videos.
Seems the only time anything got added to the stickies was when tactical teacher (then Hungry) and Skullboy were moderators.
