Good Morning all,

I've got a bit of a problem coming up consistently with my Smith and Wesson 686. The cylinder is very difficult to open even after a thorough cleaning and only 50-100 rounds through it. The cylinder remains difficult to open even after the brass is expended so this tells me its not a proud primer issue. Timing seems bang on as I am not getting any shaved lead issues as well.

Any recommendations on gunsmiths near the ottawa region that can deal with this issue?

Thanks for your help.

And if there is nothing near ottawa i'd be willing to ship it to get it done right.

I can't answer your question. Check the Extractor Rod, it can unscrew and cause a bind, LH thread IIRC.

Jason will be able to sort you out. He has done a fair amount of non-standard problem fixes for me over the years on S&W and Ruger revolvers.

Curious - what model 686 is it, i.e., 686-? Early models were subject to a recall, somewhat exhibiting the problem you describe.
