Good Morning all,

I've got a bit of a problem coming up consistently with my Smith and Wesson 686. The cylinder is very difficult to open even after a thorough cleaning and only 50-100 rounds through it. The cylinder remains difficult to open even after the brass is expended so this tells me its not a proud primer issue. Timing seems bang on as I am not getting any shaved lead issues as well.

Any recommendations on gunsmiths near the ottawa region that can deal with this issue?

Thanks for your help.

And if there is nothing near ottawa i'd be willing to ship it to get it done right.

Before you find a gunsmith...

"Sounds like your ejector rod has loosened and backed out a little. Try wedging a piece of wood on the bottom side of the knurling between the rod and the ejector housing and turn the cylinder (left hand threads). Once you get it out take the rod all the way out and put a little blue Lo-Tite on it"

Jason will be able to sort you out. He has done a fair amount of non-standard problem fixes for me over the years on S&W and Ruger revolvers.

Curious - what model 686 is it, i.e., 686-? Early models were subject to a recall, somewhat exhibiting the problem you describe.

Not uncommon, I have never put lock tight on any, just tighten and check when cleaning.
If you don't know, it will be a major pita, but simple fix. Don't oil the thread and remember Left hand thread.
