Revolver Question, Specifically S&W 38spl

Check with the guys at smith & wesson forums. You have what looks like a K200. Serial # will verify year. Made by Smith for the Brits back during the war in 38/200 or 38 S&W with a 200 gr bullet. After the war, the war dept sold these off and they were converted (some not very well) by numerous companies in the UK for sale back in the States (you could buy them mail order for $19.50). Some of the conversions are ok some are not very well done and in most cases it is advised to have a gunsmith look it over.

A bit of trivia (I've posted something similar elsewhere)....

My dad was a paratrooper with Polish forces under British command,

Not a commercial org in competition with CGN sponsors.

When acting as Bren gunner, he carried a revolver. I remember an offhand comment, "Yeah, we put the same bullets in that we used in the Stens".

I'm suspecting it was an SW, and the 9mm was rather inappropriate....more powerful than recommended.

He's no longer around to ask if he actually FIRED the revolver with that ammunition. : (
