Who does good revolver re finishing these days? I know Murray Charlton shut down,
Recently picked up a 586 for $200 that was pretty rough on the exterior, I ended up taking most of the finish off,
So who does bead blasting and hot bluing and knows their way around a revolver?

TIA

Roger Kotanko at Dark International did a nice job on a rusty, pitted shotgun.

He bead blasted it and blued it. A nice mat blue finish.

he has tuned revolvers for me.

Pretty quick turn around and not expensive.

If you are going to do it, go for a deep rich blued finish like SW and Colt did with theirs in the 70s, I like it so thick and rich it almost looks chrome.

Don't do it matte blue

Just my opinion

There is too much pitting on this revolver to go that route unfortunately, will need to be the bead blasted finish in order to hide it. I’ll post photos in a little

Maybe something like a parkerizing might look nice? I have a Uberti revolver with that matte finish. I think one of the brands called it "millennium". And it has a bit of holster wear. But I kind of like it, and I think the way it wears in just looks better.

Jeff Quinn of GunBlast kind of antiqued one like mine, but with stag grips. Turned out pretty cool looking. "Patina" is the hot look right now.

In dark light it looked pretty good,

But in direct light and flash not so great, Still well worth the $200.

What a sweet deal for 200$ I'd buy the in a heartbeat!

This is going to be a fun project for you

I can see why you can't go with the deep rich hot blue now

What about just cerekote it ? Gunmetal silver color ?

Or do you want to stick with blue/black?

was worried about cerakote maybe being a little too thick for the revolver, And price and turn around time are another factor. Iam not a fan of a few certain cerakote places either. But still and option.

I hear you 100% on the cerekote being too thick, and most likely an instant very noticeable drag line on the cylinder right away

All in all that is a sweet project and please keep us posted on what you decide and pics of it when its completed!

How about DLC done by Red Tower Armoury. I don't think it adds any thickness to surface and it will protect it.

They are in ON and it will probably be more than $150 though.

nice deal, and sweet revolver.
I tried bluing once. I was actually very surprised at how it turned out. it was done on my norc1911 slide, and it looks 100 times better than the stock finish.
good luck which ever route you take, any way, it will be a good shooter.

You should get some Evaporust and soak the entire gun in that, completely removes all rust and bluing. No scrubbing required.

Well guys here's the finished product, Turned out pretty good. Refinishing was done by Notch and Post customs, out of Ontario. Kent was a great guy to deal with. Price was very reasonable, and turn around time wasn't bad at all. I had E mailed numerous places and the only other one that replied was Rusty Wood with a quote of 400-500!! No thank you.

Went Tungsten and Matte black. Tried to make it a little more modern looking. I ended up gifting this to my brother for Christmas. He was pretty surprised and stoked.
