Revolver recommendations for IPSC?

Actually no...the 7 and 8 round guns can be shot in PD but you have to abide by the rules for positioning of holster and ammo carriers.

And you can also shoot any gun in Open division, including your revolver. there you are also allowed optical sights and compensators. Though I haven't heard anyone doing that. :D

In fact, there used to be (8-10 years ago) a few shooters from northern BC that did just that. IIRC, they used 8 shot Taurus revolvers with moon clips. They had Optima sights mounted and I think the barrels were ported. Further, they loaded .38 Spl brass to major (ie: .357 Mag) PF.

Actually I have seen it done.

Full house .357 Major PF. Ported barrel and an optic.

Pretty cool to watch. :)

... Just packing enough ammo behind the hipbone could be a challenge....

This would be my solution: (the images show 6 round .45 ACP moon clips but will also work with 8 round .38/.357 moon clips)

Just place it behind you hip bone either on your support side and do support hand reloads or behind your holster and do strong hand reloads. (it can be set up to feed moon clips from either side). You would be grabbing a moon clip in the same spot every time and wouldn't be reaching around your back as the stage progresses.

As an aside, USPSA allows competitors shooting revolvers in PD to mount their ammo forward of the hip bone (ie: in front of the body). Another reason why USPSA is better than IPSC!

Yeah !! another wheel gunner .

I Luv me a six shooter , I lucked into a S&W 625 .45acp a number of years ago and haven't looked back since . They are worth the look around to get one , It's a solid chunk of steel and I know if I do my part it is going to out preform me every time I'm on the line . I see my buddies and their guns all run great UNTIL ,then the smallist thing hangs them up ,ie ejector ,extractor, feed lips on the mags ,dirt in the mag well etc.. and then there's making sure everything fits into that DAMN BOX . How lucky was I to get in on a group buy of Wilson 10 rd burocrat mags and go to the range a couple of weeks later to be told that I was not in OPEN class with the race gun/space guns . I was definately out classed . Now it simple , I make 6 nice big holes and then I move on . I may only have 6 rounds but hell you should see me reload !!!!!

Rant over .

GO WHEELGUNNERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
