I just bought a Taurus Raging Bull 44 mag 6.5 inch barrel and couldn't be happier. It is really cheap ($750) compare to SW or Ruger revolvers. The recoil is soft as a kitten, the accuracy is sick and the trigger is amazing (SA).

Yep, they are great, just got mine on Monday and already have 250rds through it.

Dealing with moon clips is easy, either buy the tool (it's cheap) or get a piece of 5/8 copper pipe (water line) and notch the end (not hard just a short step half the circumference).
I wasn't aware the 610 is out of production-this would explain why I haven't seen any around...
I couldn't agree more- a 4.2" or 5" 625 would sell like hotcakes, to bad S&W are so swamped already.
And personally I'd rather buy a used 625 over anything Ruger has to offer (yes, flame suit on); It's not that I don't like Ruger but more like I love S&W that much more.
 
I have the tools but it isn't an easy thing getting the brass out of the clips. The first round is the worse. I am thinking of getting some .45 Auto Rim brass to cover the .45ACP issue. Comparing the Ruger convertible that you just have to load and unload or the S&W 625 that you have to fight with the moon clips I think the Ruger would be better and half the cost plus the Ruger is a new gun and the 625 would be used.
 
Here's my 625. This is the third 625 I've owned and I've never had a problem getting brass out of the moon clips or loading them. I love the moonclips in the winter as I don't have to pick brass out of the snow. All 3 of the 625's I've had have been very accurate and with a trigger job have been real easy to shoot. Reloading is as quick as it gets with a revolver using moonclips and if I was to own just one revolver this would be the one.

Very nice, I'd like to find a PC 627 for myself, I love the grips on these revolvers.
 
on my short list is ruger sp101 357 mag .

tell there available in Canada the 4.2" S&W 686 will fill the bill.
 
Survey says.......

Ok 44 mag it is!!!!! Bought a S&W 44 mag model 29-5 with the 8 3/8 barrel. Sick looking gun!!!! Thanks for all the tips and advice dogz!!!
