what is the best way in tuning a revolver action- lighten and smoothen the trigger pull, will changing the rebound and mainspring help?(wolff reduce power) or change the springs and a call to a smith. ( SW 625 ) thanks

Polish (not grind) the rebound slide and its mating surface in the frame. Also the trigger and hammer sides.

Lube with a little KleenBore TW25B.

As repete said polishing all the rubbing surfaces will help a lot. Do not use a grinder! Polish/hone with a ceramic stone or hard Arkansas. Wolf springs work great. Reduced power mainspring and rebound spring will lighten the pull. The idea is not to lighten too much so get several different weight springs.

My answer on S&W revolvers has always been to hone every contacting surface. The trigger return spring can be shortened by about 1 1/2 coils or replaced with a lighter spring. I don't like the idea of reducing mainspring tension or strength. That invites reliability problems IMO. With the stock mainspring, fully tensioned, it is usually possible to get a damn nice double action pull of around 8 pounds or so with complete reliability. Regards, Bill.
