Now looks like this:

Hard chrome by Tripp and other changes by the Accurizer Gunshop and Ten Ring Precision. I had the front night sight removed in favor of a Gold Dot and Alex Hamilton (Ten Ring Precision) did most of the improvements to the slide; the Accurizer Gunshop did upgrades to the frame.

Regards,

Richard:)

dangertree, thanks a lot but the question remains will it shoot. I am going to try it tomorrow or Sunday. I am praying and lighting candles. Regards, Richard:)

This is what the Gold Dot Front sight looks like:

I took the Springer MilSpec and the Custom Colt 9mm 1911 to the range today. I put 50 rounds through the MilSpec and bobbing the hammer worked. I wonder why more do not bob the hammer rather than putting money into extended grip safeties and new hammers? My only observation is that my RIA is a better pistol for the money. I have $500 in the MilSpec and $475 in the RIA.

Now to the Custom Colt 9mm 1911. Yes, it now works 100% and it truly is a joy to shoot. I am getting golf ball sized groups at 10 yards and the gun's only issue is not locking open after the last round. I am sure this issue is related to the magazines that came with the pistol. My final comment is the pistol still needs to break in more, I am positive the accuracy will improve.

Regards,

Richard:)

Interesting refinish job.... usually used to seeing blued slides with hardchromed frames.... glad it's a good shooter............................mags are easy enought to come by.............................

Richard,

That Colt's a beauty, I'm waiting on my Valtro which is getting everything hardchromed except the slide.

I've been thinking of going with the gold bead front sight, what make is that one?

JohnnyMac, the front sight was fabricated by Alex Hamilton of Ten Ring Precision and it works great for aging eyes. Hell, it would work well with anyones eyes. The Springer has a bobbed hammer and it also works very well without the expense of an extended grip safety and new hammer. Regards, Richard:)
