RFB initial thoughts, Range report ***JANUARY 31st ammo test at bottom of OP***

Is that due to laquer residue from the casing increasing chamber pressures?

Kel-tec hasn't come out to say its the lacquer. But imagine what steel case 7.62 will do in a 308 chamber in a gun that's known to blow up from such ammo. If I was the distributor I'd be shipping these with a big warning cause from what I have seen I am part of a minority who reads gun manuals and does pre-purchase research.

wolverine had a bunch of used dnd ar10 uppers that they sold some time ago.

Yup. One thing to point out though. There were two types. A few were prototype/test uppers with exactly 200 rounds. The rest were what I call bring backs. Ie used in the field.

I have one of the test ones. It rocks. They are heavy though. Not sure which one fireballs is. But it shoots fantastically so it doesn't really matter. Plus just finding one is tough. The guys who have them know what they are and tend to hang onto them. Especially considering the lack of AR10 exports and the DND no longer allowing the uppers to be bought.

And were did you find a DND AR10 in Vancouver?

Longshot was that you I met during the filming of Human target at wholesale sports? They were filming the "Uzi" scene even though it was really an HK MP5.

Fireball has an AR10 thread as well. Some more details including range report.

Can't wait to get a RFB, but I'll never part with the AR10.

I have a box of 7.62x51 surplus ammo that I can give to fireball for trying in the RFB. I'm pretty sure it's brass not steel cased.

omg u cant shoot the steel cased ammo though it! i want to buy cases, do they sell non steel cased ammo for a reasoble price? $650 ia alright but its goin to get damn expensive at a buck a shot or more with a gun like that. with regular .308.

No mate that was Grens Vegter. He told me he had met you.I was busy on another show unfortunately. He also told me he spent his paycheck and didn't make any cash that day! ;)
So someone bought a used DND AR 10?You must have been lucky if it still was in decent shape unless it was a referb.

I couldn't remeber the CGN handle he had. Good guy and it was interesting seeing how the firearms were set up for the show.

Yup the AR10 DND rifles were in good shape. A couple scratched but that was it. Also both have the Ring mark on the barrel were supressors were used.

If you were at Mission today it was fireball with the RFB. Working night shifts so no range trip for me.

I saw one of these RFB's at the range today.Interesting piece.

I was at Poco just after lunch time. I was the 3rd to attend with one that day.

Poco Range Rant

And what a surprise 1 hour wait at the upper range so I went and used the lower pistol range on my own for 1 hour.

I had a great time shooting .45 out of the wife's Norinco 1911 and my USC. At the 50 minute mark I was reloading the USC mag when this bigger Russian sounding guy came up and told me that I was not aloud to fire the USC rifle down here, lower pistol range. I politely corrected him that .22 rifle and pistol calibre carbine was aloud and the upper range officers knew what I was firing.

Instead of walking away and saying something like "ok, didn't know" he kept arguing/interrupting me when I turned my back to him and began reloading the mag:mad:. He didn't actually touch me. At this point I was pissed. So this time, looking him the eyes I politely told him that I no longer cared what he had to say as he wasn't listening to what I had to say, you are disturbing me so go f**k off, he responded by shrugging and making a funny face.:bangHead:. It takes quite a bit to piss me off just, ask Epoxy7. Once I resumed firing the .45s in a long string of multiple mag's the big Russian, without hearing protection on, left me alone .

1 hour is up so I clean up my range, pack my kit and move the truck over to the upper range. I go and speak with the upper range officer about a table for .308. He smiles at me and askes if i was firing a rifle down below. I said "no" just the .45 USC. he responded with "oh, thats fine then". Apparently the big Russian felt so inclined to report me to the range officers when he didn't get the response he was looking for.

I'm glad I've joined the Mission range.

Rant off :p

PMC Korean
Isreali Surplus
Winchester Ball from Camp Perry
Portugess Surplus
*Also have a few Norinco Green Boxes if you want to try them also.*
No money will be accepted for using the ammo. Only thing I say we do it at Mission so we can see how good it does at 300 & I'll bring the video camera so we can youtube it for the guy's.
Sound good?

I'll be shooting 1120 rounds of South African surplus through mine when it arrives... should be a good break in period before I use my 155 AMAX precision loads through it. :) Looking forward to testing this puppy out at 500+ yards.
