Ok my RFB DS showed up from wanstalls and wow! It is so small. Its almost too small for me! Almost...

It seems like a solid gun very well built cant wait to run it through the paces at the range this weekend.

I am having an issue that is causing me concern. Its with regards to the magazine. i am posting this on CGN because Wanstalls is not open on mondays and i want answers now!

So when i insert the mag and i give it a tap to make sure its fully seated everything seems fine. The problem is i can pull the magazine out without pressing the mag release. It doesnt even take much force. Just a tug and it comes free! Also if i rock it forward, towards the trigger, it comes free. And the rock forward again takes almost no pressure.

Im guessing this is a mag issue? Or is this normal?

Ive only got the one mag so i cant test another.

Another problem im having is deciding on an optic for it.

Right now funds are a little tight due to the high cost of the RFB, im waiting for some items to sell. In the mean time i have been looking at the Vortex Viper PST line of scopes.

The only question is 1-4x or 2.5-10x?

With the 1-4x i know i will be able to shoot with both eyes open, can i do that with the 2.5-10? Im new to magnified optics and was wondering at what power is it not possible to shoot both eyes open?

Also where can one acquire one of these fine optics? Everyone seems to be sold out.

Im open to suggestions let me know whats working for you on your RFB and at what ranges.

I went with a busnell 4200 4x with a red dot in the middle. Its very nice but sometimes at the range I wish I had more distance but it depends for plinking cans ect its great at the just the range and paper its ok..

For the mag...if you're inserting it onto a closed bolt it take some force to "click" it in (where the mag catch actually does catch the mag). Try inserting on an open bolt first (again making sure it clicks in). Even though Kel-Tec says you don't need to rock the mag in (like an FAL), I still find it easier to do it that way than say an AR15 mag (straight in).

Haha boy do i feel stupid right now! I inserted it on an open bolt and problem solved! Thanks

On the KTOG forum there are a bunch of threads about having a full mag and not being able to easily lock it in on the closed bolt. Many went the way of only putting 19 rounds in (in our case 4 rounds) which gives enough mag spring slack to allow easier lock in. They have other methods but most of them would make our mags a prohib device. I usually just pull the bolt back instead...
