Haven't seen this debated yet so am putting it up.

Which would you go for and why?

As I see it, Swiss Arms has the "name brand" and guaranteed quality, in a target .223 round.

The Kel-Tec RFB is the dark horse with initial good feedback, but ultimately little info. It's in a good caliber for all round hunting and its length and weight commend it to this purpose. Plus it's a bullpup.

So, which would you choose and why? Cost, caliber, length, preference, design, manufacturer etc etc etc!

Edit - purpose is mostly just to own/cool factor. Other possibilities are outdoors use, backpacking, plinking, hunting.

Well for what use? Gophers probably the SAN, or long range target shooting, the SAN as well. But the RFB is 308! It's my deer, moose, & bear rifle. With 110 grain vmaxs it'll work great for yotes and wolves too.

I would go for the RFB unless I was gonna do a lot of shooting, and most of it was target shooting.

I find the swiss arms to be much more refined, but that's understandable. I've owned every model of Swiss arms out there except the sniper, and I think they are awesome. that being said, i sold my Swiss arms carbine to buy the RFB :) I have enough 223 blasters but a 308 bullpup is just COOL.

As Tm noted it depends what you want it for. Swiss for targets and small game... RFB for bigger game... And targets. ;)

I went with the RFB.. I saw 1 and went damit I need it.. saw the other one went its alright :p

A very apples to oranges comparison, and when faced with a dilemna of choosing a tried and true "classic" like a Swiss Arms or a relatively innovative new-comer like the RFB, there is only one real choice: beg, borrow and/or steal from the old lady to have both!

If you think about it, it's the only logical solution.

this is really a bad comparison in my mind considering they are differnat calibers and completely different styled rifles. if you are going to buy either of these to do any large amount of shooting it would defiantly be the Swiss arms due to price of ammo. if you wanna go hunting your gonna buy a hunting rifle because whether the RFB is in 308 or not the length of swing for the rifle will make it hard to aim(Bullpup's were designed with short distances in mind) at a good distance in most hunting situations and you will always be better off with a hunting rifle maybe with the target version it would be different but then you could bring weight factor into it do you really want to be hiking around with a 13 lb RFB on your back because that's how heavy it will be with optics, bi pod etc... now as a gofer gun or coyote killer i believe the Swiss arms is excellent as it is still a rifle not a bullpup which IMO are always more accurate at longer distances and it is tried and proven. now if we go to cool factor of you just want one i personally think the RFB is one of the coolest guns out there so if cool is all i wanted it would be the RFB. all that being said it is essential to own both!!!

Just my .02 cents

I've had a Classic Green and a Black Special Target, and yes, they are nicely made and accurate, blah, blah, blah. They just never thrilled me.

If I'm going to carry something that big, clunky, and heavy, then it had better be a .308.

The RFB will easily work for hunting to 300m, if not more. How many of your shots are further than this while hunting with 308? I think your post was .....wrong.

I don't know about guaranteed quality with the Swiss Arms... On a course a few years back, I watched the charging handle break right off of one while cycling - oops...Nice guns, but nothing is perfect... That said it's a difficult comparison between it and the RFB - considering that the action on the Swiss is all backwards, what with the magazine in front of the trigger, and the barrel in front of that again - Weird...

i was not saying you can't do it but what i was referring to is looking at it as a hunting gun for most people a hunting rifle will be much preferred and more accurate in most situations for the average shooter and do to where we hunt i would most defiantly prefer a hunting rifle in stainless and not a auto loader do to weather

EDIT: PS i have never hunted with 308 or plan on it and this is all JUST MY OPINION
