The ameriKan RFB owners have reported excellent warranty service regarding the stainless weldment breakage on the early rifles which were replaced by steel weldments.

Has any Kanadian RFB owner returned the rifle to Vault for any warranty repair ?

As I am about to take that journey any shared experiences would be appreciated to assist my trek.

Get hold of your original dealer. They'll make arrangements to send it back to Vault. Vault has some parts and a local gunsmith to take care of minor stuff.

If it has to go back to KelTec, it needs to go through Vault for the paperwork. It also has to come back from KelTec, through Vault, as that's the only way they can get stuff done with the US authorities.

I've gone the route for a bolt problem. KelTec has a lifetime guarantee. They replaced the whole bolt. It was pretty painless, although the wait ( about 6 weeks) seemed long but that was due to a snafu in paperwork and they send warranty work out with their scheduled shipments to cut down on costs and border issues.

If you don't need to send the whole gun, don't. Just the parts that need attention.

Try emailing their tech guys first with a good description of the problem. They may be able to short circuit the long trip around with some suggestions.

Any problems in getting response from Vault ?

The question you really should be asking is has anyone had any issue with their RFB yet.

Call Vault direct Steve was more than happy to help.

Minor issues - mag feeding, sticky cartridge lifters, broken frame pin captor clips.

The only major issue reported so far is the weldment breakage on the early production run.

With the small amount of Kanadian RFB's it would be interesting to see how many similar problems have occured here.

Good News

Finally got a hold of Steve -

He was on a mega trip that included a visit to the Florida KelTec factory.

Kanadian RFB issues so far have been minor and minimal , and he confirmed that his gunsmith is equipped to handle those minor issues.

Major issues requiring part replacement needing specialized factory tools require shipment back to the factory.

He is in the process of getting the factory tools for the future.

Just a little hint - if you have ever taken apart a Remington Nylon 66 and went through the nightmare of putting it back together again - dont ever disassemble your RFB lower.

A machinist pal of mine took his lower apart and it took him a week to put it back together again LOL !

I've noticed some chrome coming off the bolt where it contacts the hammer and on both sides where the extracters rub when you don't have brass inserted. I contacted Kel Tec and Andrew said it is ok as long as it doesn't start coming off elsewhere and to just smooth out these areas with emery. Does everyone else have this same wear on their RFB's?

Thanks
Bill

Mine has some chrome coming off the front of the bolt face... Not worried about it, but wish it wasn't the case...

LOVE the gun! It's an AWESOME deer gun!!!

I noticed what looked like chrome coming off the bolt face on someone elses RFB, scratched at it with a dental pick and it turned out to be a greyish deposit on the chrome that scraped off , leaving an intact chrome finish. There was only 40 rds through the gun plus about 10 or 15 factory test fire rds.

Mine has had bout 800 rds. - no deposits of any kind.

Best hunting pistol in Kanada ! From whales to walrus !
