Rhineland Arms r22 picture thread

Yah, there don't seem to be that many around. And I believe the company in Texas folded and made some enemies on the way down.

Well, I got the Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor into my R22 now. I've taken it out twice now since getting that upgrade done. It is making a huge difference. it is extracting very reliably now. The gun just got fun again! :D

The gun still likes hot ammo, but at least I can use something hot and cheap now, like Remington Cyclone. That is what I have been using the last couple of weeks. It seemed a bit dumb using premium .22LR ammo just for blasting out the rounds with 25 round mags.

The gun is big-time accurate. With a barrel that heavy, it is going to be as accurate as the ammo will let it be. Gotta love it. With the red-dot scope I can pound out all 25 rounds into a coffee cup-sized circle at pistol range distances (up to 25m) in just a few seconds (..hence the need for the cheap ammo...). If you slow-fire it, you can get that down to loonie sized groups. With the bipod? Fuggedaboutit. Hugely accurate this R22.

I haven't really tried long range (in .22LR terms that is... 50 to 100m) with this gun much, but I'm sure it would work well. I've got some different kinds of ammo to try out: Green tags, more Stingers, etc.

I've also figured out how to pop the bolt out of the gun so I can clean it properly. Just take out the plastic spacer that sits behind the bolt - push the bolt all the way back and then gently pry it up with a little screw driver (or whatever). Works great. To get it back in you sit the spring/charging handle assembly into it's little socket, then push it all the way back so it can't go any further. Set the bolt in there on an angle and just push it into place when the spring/handle is as far back as it will go.

I was regretting my purchase for awhile, but now that I've got the new extractor and can clean the gun properly, the functionality of the gun has gone up to at least the level of any 10/22 or 597.

He he he....I realized after I finished my build that I forgot to take a "before" picture. Well, I wasn't about to undo the work, so........ :D

Well I'm still trying to get a stock back on mine... The stock one sucked broke it ... and I'd love to get something works...

I'd love to find a good G3 (i think that's what I need) stock but I'm probably just gonna get a pig nose and mount an M4 stock....

MP5 stock is what you want. The G3's need an adaptor, but the MP5 stocks go on with minimal modification....two holes and a little sanding on the inside to reduce the heightof the plastic index slots by about 1/8". All in all about a 10 minute job.

With some of my factory stocks I filled them with low expansion rigid foam. Made them waaaay better without adding weight. If your stuck I may have a factory one left over.....good trade bait ;)

I used the foam worked great but the plastic was still stinking brittle and -25 and a slipping on the ice last winter and she shattered...

OK where can I find an MP5 stock... hmmmm

Here are some examples of the kind of accuracy you can get with an R22. These were only shot from 25m, but they are both 25 rounds and were shot pretty rapid fire. The main body of hits on the left target isn't much bigger than a toonie.

That's on the big side I've had with mine. It's been quite accurate for the 200 rds or so I've put through it. They should be no more than that.

Haven't been here in a while, but here is an old pic of mine.

Still looks the same, been a cabinet queen for the past year or so.

I had some real jamming issues at first with the plastic lip mags, but the steel lips made all the difference in the world.

I had mentioned that those groups were "shot pretty rapid fire". We both have the same rifle. I have a bi-pod and a scope for mine as well, but I don't normally use them, as I don't find it to be as much fun. I just use the 1x red-dot scope and practice shooting fast, at multiple targets, at different ranges, etc. See my videos for some examples of the the kind of shooting that produced these groups. Sitting down with a bi-pod and slow-firing with a scope, at that range (25m) the gun will produce nickle sized groups no problem. Look at the barrel on these guns. It's massive! It probably accounts for 75% of the total weight of the gun.

Eh hah.......

I finally have a real stock on mine and you won't believe how it's attached (would you believe glue?).....

Also discovered yesterday although it's supposed to be a standard AR safety it isn't....

I changed the grip to an ERGO I had kicking around.... ...
I don't know that I like it.. I'll probably get another hogue... I've got those on most of my AR's

Yes it's a leapers scope but what do I need it's a freaking 22 and the scope keeps zero...

Does any one know where I can get a retractable stock for my R22……………?

Thanks,

***HOLLYWOOD***

My stock shattered last winter in the cold... So the R22 had been laying around for maybe 9 months without a stock...

And It's not really done... Currently I have it "glued" on I'll get it drilled and tapped when I get a chance to do it or if I can get it to a smith. And then I have to fill the holes for the original stock...

I used a pignose adapter and a cheap 4 position stock...
  • The pignose adapter is near impossible to get in Canada...
  • The stock's are relatively easy to find just cost money....

Biggest problem is the weight the thing is so front heavy...
