Landed at my door $622.33. I am impressed with the quality, fit and finish. 1st thing I did was disassemble the gun. You use an allen wrench to unscrew 4 screws, off comes the back stock. 2 more removes the receiver. Easy to take out the firing pin assembly and get at it to clean.

All of the components fit nice and tight. I was really impressed with how it came apart and went back together again. The shroud is heavy duty aluminium, and the firearm is barrel heavy - 1" of steel tube. So it should be accurate.

The rail isn't a true Picatinny. It is in width, but if your trying to fit a std. AR type scope, the slots on the R22 are about 1/4" longer than the scope fitting. So I'm looking at an AR riser later today that might do the job.

If you want one, get on the list. I was on Rhinelands list in Jan or Feb 04 and just got it yesterday.

Im onthe list 4 mine around the end of the year :D . Just looking at the stock it looks same as an MP5. Do you think a folding MP5 stock would fit?

A mp5 folder will not fit as the 10/22 bolt inside is wider than a stock mp5 receiver so unless you want to split a folder and try and figure a way to make to hold together it will not fit..
But you can drill and tap new holes in the back of the receiver for a ace folder..

come on boys post some pics of your new toys.... (maybe a picture of a r22 laying on a canadian flag is in order).....

still waiting, was told if i get lucky i'll have it before the new year 2006.....

H&K irons would be awesome, and the currrent optics only sighting option was the reason I opted to buy something else. Since this version was supposed to be here a year ago or something like that I have a feeling it will be awhile before we see the version with irons, unless they make some mods to this version.
 
AR Riser for R22

Picked up the $15 riser (from Fitco.com). Had a pin in the underside to look into the AR picatinny. So, took my handy pliers, squeezed and pulled it out. Then the riser slide right on. The top of this riser is sloted at different widths, which will accomodate the Elcan scope I wish to mount.

So, that's my story for the day. Sorry I can't go into more detail, as I have to load up the R22 and go to the range. Oh well, some of us can, some of us can't, some of us did, some of us didn't, some of us might and are still thinking about it, while the rest of us R22's are spitting lead.
 
Just back from the range

With a cheap scope, took a few rounds to sight in. In door range 20 yds. so no big deal. Then tried different ammo, as per Rhineland's recommendations.
Federal Game Shock - 20 rds in the bullseye. Winchester 40 gr. - 20 rds. in the bullseye. Winchester Hi-Velocity - accurate, but R22 didn't spit all of them out and there was enough sparks and smoke to think you were in a battle. Federal Bulk Pak - 20 rounds in the bullseye.

So, cheap ammo would be the Federal Bulk (although I think I got a few jams with this stuff). So I'm staying with the Game Shock. Couldn't find any CCI Mini Mag (Rhineland also recommends this one).

I'm not real warm and fuzzy about the safety/fire, kinda of cheezy. Any of you guys out there find a good substitute, let me know.

The Butler Creek mags fit o.k., took a few clips to figure which way to insert so it sets right. The mag release is metal, my guess aluminium.

As for the shooting, I'm one happy guy. This thing is going to be fun. This coming week, I'll line up a decent scope, sight it in again, and then do some 100 yd. + shooting. That'll be the real test, but my gut feel is that I'll be smiling like a Chershire cat. Decent trigger pull, my guess is medium, probably 3-4 pds. No sure I'd want it lighter, just moving the gun around might set my finger off.

All in all, a good 1st day at the range with my new baby.

P.S. The rail is a Weaver. If you need to convert to Picatinny, get a flattop riser which will accomodate the other scopes. Fitco.com $15 decent enough fit and finish, however, has a spring pin on the underside. Before you try to fit and scratch the new toy, grap the spring pliers, press and pull the thing out. It then slips on like a baby, nice tight fit.

Here is a quick fix for a loose safety/fire selector. Remove the pistol grip (special hex required) , remove the safety/fire tension spring and plunger , drill the hole 1/16"-1/8" deeper (be careful not to go any deeper than that !!! ) , reinstall everything and you're done.
