My new RIA should be here in a few days (hopefully sooner). I'll let you know! But FWIW, the shooters on both 1911forum.com (mainly US shooters) as well as m1911.org (great international community) sing very high praises for the Armscor made 1911s.
Fit and finish of parts will be better than a Norc (less unfinished edges, burrs, etc.), finish will be decent parkerizing, sights are ok, function and reliability are reported to be very good. Considered by many to be the ultimate budget 1911s.
The Norc on the other hand has a forged slide and frame for $200 less... but may be a little less refined in the finish and fitment of the parts...
Personally I think it is a tough call to say which gun gives better bang for the buck. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either. Now that said, The RIA is available right now and the Norc
may be available in the foreseeable future. But it may also be a lot longer.... We all know how waiting for the slow boat form China can go.
I'd say buy the RIA now and maybe the Norc as well when (or if) they hit our shores. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, as the old cliche goes...
