RIA M22 (1022 clone)

What happened to all those cheap Rock Island Armory M22 .22lr 1022 clones that flooded the market a few years ago ?
I remember Wholesale was blowing them out @ $139.00 .
I know the stocks were junk & you couldn't interchange the barrel with a 1022 barrel .
I'm looking for one for a project (yes I have a WTB ad in the EE ) .
Don't see them pop up in the EE very often .
Any owners out there want to comment on what they think about them .

A friend has one; good rifle; maybe shoots better than some 10-22s.

I had one. Overall it was decent but had a couple issues that I had to fix. The first issues was the magazines release button, I found it to be difficult to operate to drop the mag, I fixed it by installing an extended mag release. The second issue was the magazine well was super tight, so I had to sand the factory stock a bit to make the mag fit better. The last issue was it had extraction issues, the problem went away after I replaced the factory extractor with a KIDD extractor.

I tried one, receiver holes stripped immediately, very soft aluminum, bore was pretty tough, there a a reason they were so cheap.

I like mine. I give it to the kids to shoot. I don't care if they ding the stock, it's ugly.

I was looking for one a while back and contacted a dealer. They had stopped bringing them in because half the guns they sold came back under warranty. Besides they were not a lot cheaper than a basic 10/22.

I put one in a purple laminate 10/22 stock and gave it to my daughter. She loves it, never had an issue, decently accurate. Probably the best $125 I ever spent.

i have 2 and brought in 6 on a group buy with some co-workers.

they pattern like shotguns even with glass on them.
the 2 i have i let people who tag along when we go shooting use..... you know the type im talking about, too loud to give a nice gun too but you dont want to seem rude and give them a old single shot cooey.

they are fine guns, but they are no where near what a ruger is and that is saying a LOT!

i havnt seen any for sale for a couple years now, now that you mention it.
for $200 id spend a couple bucks more and get a bottom base model 10/22.

and there are some after market barrels for the 10/22 that work in the RIA, any that have bit shanks, Dlask ones are usually oversized and ive seen a couple of them fit into the RIA.
ive seen a TacSol fit into one as well.
i wouldnt shoot them in there though.
