Richard Starnes

Does anyone remember the man, Richard Starnes, who wrote a monthly editorial in one of the outdoor magazines back in the 1960’s?

I’ve googled the name, but there must be dozens by that name. I remember he wrote one heartbreaking article about losing his son in the Vietnam War. I don’t recall which magazine he wrote for, but likely Field & Stream or Outdoor Life.

Richard wrote for Outdoor Life . If you google " Richard Starnes , Outdoor LIfe " ; some of his articles come up . Not sure about the story involving the loss of his son .

Thank you! It was a long time ago when I read that article/editorial, so I might be wrong about the author. I was a young person back then, and I remember the anguish in his words.
