Hello,

I have a Savage model 100E in 270 win cal that I use for hunting. I am satisfied with the general performance of this rifle but would like to upgrade it a little bit.

Does any of you have any experience with the laminated wood stocks sold by Richard's Microfit Gunstocks? I would be interested in a tactical or target style stock with thumb hole and would like to install a bi-pod later on.

I worked on the Wildcat stock, do recomend getting the recoil pad option installed, saves time, and they do a wonderful job with a quality pad. There is tons of wood to allow you may options with styling it to your fancy. Good choice for the price. :)
 
i have done a number of rifles using their stocks. All have turned out looking great. The action inlets are generally pretty close. Varying degree of toolmarks depending on the model but leaves you room to be creative.

Be ready to expect a delay in shipping. They get them to the border in 2 days upon completion. Canada Customs then will decide when you get your stock. Shortest hold was 6 days. I am over 4 weeks now on the present one. Avg is 3 - 4 weeks.

Get the recoil pad installed. Good deal in the end and saves a bunch of work.
 
I bought one about 2.5 years ago. Waited 13 weeks, and spent $130 for a proper bedding of the action/installing buttplate, and about 8 hours of filing, and sanding on the exterior. Looks ok now.

I have one of each. Richards and Boyds. Both are thumbhole varmit
style. The Boyd's cost me about $150.00 landed and the Richard's
was likely close to $400.00. The Boyd's probably took close to 8 hrs
of work to get it to clear coat stage where the Richard's was just a
light sanding. Both needed pillars and bedding. Finished there is
nothing to choose between them and both places were excellent to
deal with. For what it's worth.
