Does anyone know if Richards shippers to Canada? From what I can tell they stopped at one point but I don't know if that was before or after the $500 limit came into effect. I plan on calling tomorrow after work but am curious now

There was a thread on here not long ago where an Canadian A*&hole reported Richard's to their state dept for exporting to us without the proper paper work.
Needless to say they got a BIG smack and now won't ship to us now.
I'd like to meet this POS.

yup exactly..... and on a US site I saw a post by Richards microfit stocks saying exactly that as the reason they won't deal with Canadians.

Here's the thread in question. It's not pretty:

You described this so-called CGNer an "A*&hole". That is far too kind a term for this person, in my opinion.

I tried to order one last year they would not deal with me. I even asked about having it imported through Prophet river and they would not do that either. Seeing that thread helps it to make sense.

To be able to export, the manufacturer would need to be registered as an exporter with the US State Department. That costs a minimum of $2,750 a year. Then they need to inform the State Department of every export, even those under the exemption limit. The exemption is only an exemption for a registered exporter, from getting an individual export license for each shipment, it's not a blanket exemption for exporting items under the value limit.

Many businesses just can't be bothered with huge amount of extra paperwork, and State Department audits.
