Has Anybody delt with them are they a good qulity stock? Fit finish? reason is I wanna buy one for my Vanguard ive delt with boyds and the stock they sent had the wrong holes and did not fit i'm getting a little gun shy!
Check out my posts on Richards.
Duplicated it twice now.
Takes time to get them up here and they do come big and bulky.
Be prepared to spend a whack of time on it if your taste buds are fussy.
I lost count on the hours I spent on Juniors here.
Turned out better than I expected, but as I say I spent a ton of time on it.
X2 for me, I have one in walnut, it took much longer than advertised for delivery and it was allot of work to get it ready for the receiver. It finished up nice though.
I got a wildcat varminter for a savage 93/17 that was a stainless heavy barrel with their undersized synthetic rimfire stock to begin with. The gun fit in the Richards stock as soon as i got it. It is definitely for the DIYer who doesnt want to carve the whole stock..it comes in need of a lot of sanding and finishing work. mine finished up real nice and groups shrunk considerably after having a more suitable stock on it about a half inch at 100yds for 5 shots. delivery time was about 2 weeks longer than the website said it would be. (the wildcat varminter and other target styles take longer than sporters)
I've had mixed experience with Richards. I've bought 3 stocks, the first 2 were fine but the third one was not properly inletted and sent back. They are very very difficult if not impossible to get a hold of, they do not accept messages and do not return phone calls, really poor customer service. All and all I think there must be better places to deal with. Try Royal Arms out of Montana - it has a new owner since I dealt there but I got a great laminated heavy barrel varmint rifle stock from them a few years back and they were great to deal with.
Overall, I've been happy with the stocks I've received from Richards. Very true, they do require a lot of work to shape, sand and finish, but I prefer to do that myself anyways. Their shipping can be troublesome, though. I've had stocks arrive in two weeks, and then the next order didn't arrive for five months. For the price, though, they aren't too bad.
