Hello.

I use a fast powder in the 270win, ar2208 (varget)
And my rifle has a 24 inch barrel (rem700)

Would velocity possibly be quicker with a 22inch tube and the faster powder combo??

Normally people use ar2209 ..... WL
 
No. the pressure in the last bit of barrel will still be accelerating the bullet though maybe less so than with a bigger charge of slower powder.

2213 is a very good one too, we call it H4831. Have you ever chronographed your loads?
 
The powder that produces the most velocity in your gun at 24 inches will almost certainly produce the most velocity no matter what barrel length is used in your gun.
 
Havnt chronoed yet but im waiting for a range day with a bloke who has one an am very interested with my loads before i decide on selling a few an making one.

Yeh 2213 is popular here too.

I do really need to know exact numbers with the 2208 powder

Roos are fast an getting wiley, the powders seem to hav settled back down a bit aswell as components


I thort short barrels excel with fast powder an longer with slower powders to get the srive behind the slug.
