Rifle advice 9.3x62

CZ only added plastic to the 550 later just before they discontinued it and it was the magazine follower and floor place. You can still order the metal replacement. I have the 550 Safari with metal follower and a 550 LUX with plastic. The plastic follower is quiet and doesn't mark up your cases. Its probably better. They didn't make the Safari Magnum in 9.3x62. It was in the smaller 550 Standard action.

the regular cz550 action is an hog for the 9.3x62 i will say too heavy even if they called that a standart action. trust me i compared both with others and the zastava as nothing to envy to the cz ...
if you happy with the plastci why you do not get a tikka, i like mine in 308 ... the less plastic on a classic action the more happy i am.

I would have to disagree with you. I find the cz 550 in the standard platform to be a well balanced rifle. The only one that feels heavy is the 6.5x55 and thats because of the small bore diameter vs barrel thickness. The 8x57 and 9.3x62 are just right in a cz 550.

no problem, discussion is made for it, did you compare to a zastava, a fn or a husky?

the only one i liked and was light enough, was the version with the kevlar stock but i ve seen very rarely those one.

I do have the Zastava and FN 98 Husqvarna aswell. I find the Zastava to be abit nose light especially with my ammo holder on the stock. The Husqvarna FN 98 with side mount and scope is about the same weight as the cz 550 scoped.

Agreed. My CZ 550 in 9.3x62 handles perfectly to me.

Very nicely done! The only thing I would add is some fine hand checkering. Alas, she is a beaut!
 
handling and weight are 2 different concept .... a fitting is most important than the weight in most of the case. but i advanced the weight: if you add the same 10 x 285 grains at the bottom of the end of the cz i d like to know how you compare it to the zastava and the husky.
 
I recently ordered one of the hogsback stock zastavas tradex has brought in (I am a big fan of this stock compared to what is for me an overly large comb on the older import m70's).

It is at a local gunsmith shop getting the stock shortened, recoil pad installed, and pillar bedding. Leupold 2.5x scope and talley aluminum ring/mounts.

It will pale in comparison to the guns posted in this thread but probably not do half bad hunting moose and elk in the woods/muskeg.
 
That will make an awesome everything rifle. I read an article about Phil shoemakers daughter hunting dall sheep with a 416 Remington topped with a 2.5 leupold. Didn’t seem to hamper her at all.

what counts is the tool meeting your needs.

i changed my zastava for a boyds laminated with a german reticle 1 vari x III 2.5-8x36 with steel bases and leupold qrw ...

Maybe its not the guns weight that's the problem and that you just need to grow a pair.
