Rifle ammo coming to Walmart on March 11th in BC!

I'm surprised to learn that Walmart has not been carrying ammo in BC. They have sold rifle and shotgun ammo in Manitoba since forever.

Where they have fallen down is in the fact that while they used to sell Winchester, Federal and Remington they now are carrying only Winchester ammo. As I use Federal ammo almost exclusively, especially for my rifles, I am not buying ammo there anymore.

I have discussed this limitation with Walmart staff but they claim they are powerless to broaden their ammo product line. Apparently the buyers are way off in Toronto and unresponsive to local staff and customers.

Maybe if more of "us" complained??

Seems most WallyWorld around GVRD sells rifle ammo. Granview hwy store does not (clerk said store too small). Lougheed has decent selection.

Did you read the thread or just the OP. The OP is a little confused, The Walmart CSR is even more confused; it's like McDonalds saying we'll be selling hamburgers in Mar.

My main point is Walmart is about money. I want them to start selling ammo 9mm for prices close to what they sell it for in the states. I wrote and made some small improvement, If we all wrote requesting it, they would definately reconsider.

ammo at walmart

I have several walmrts around here that sell ammo and some that used to sell ammo that don't sell it anymore . the story I got was there was'nt enough demand for it.

I was also told that the Walmart stores in the north - hunting areas would keep selling ammo due to demand. all the new walmart stores that I have gone into looking for ammo usually only have pellet guns and paint ball crap.

the one walmart around here that still sells ammo usually stocks 22 22mag 17cal 270 308 etc . but never any pistol ammo . too bad . I myself try to support the local gun store but if there is a price diffrence of $10 dollars on a brick of 22s I'll go to the cheaper place.

Being an avid shooter and buying a lot of Wal-Mart ammo. I asked the store manager, who is also a range shooter, why there are no pistol calibers. Quite simple....a pistol can be hidden on a person, then ammo bought for it and shootings, robbery or such is readily available. Not many rifles can be hidden on a person and loaded instore. I do realize that there are .22 pistols but bigger calibers seem to be the demon. Perhaps as a safety precaution, the pistol ammo is not available. But store stock is up to the local demand and store staff decisions.

This is not it your friend might not know this. After the Columbine Shooting there was a big stink about where the ammo was bought. It turned out that the disturbed kids that did the shooting bought the ammo from K-Mart a few weeks earlier.

Michael Moore made the movie Bowling for Columbine and made out that K-Mart was responsible for the actions of these troubled kids and after he relentlessly hounded their head office for days they decided to pull all their handgun and non hunting used ammunition off their shelves. After this Walmart did the same and made it a company policy to not sell it. So say thanks to Micky for that :jerkit: :runaway:

Our wal-mart carries ammo as well. For such a huge multi-national corporation, they have been unable to keep any .22 ammo in stock for going on 2 years now.

If someone wanted to take wal-mart out, they would only need to do 2 things:
1) Actually have something in stock
2) Open all of the 24 or whatever checkouts.

Price would be secondary to me.

I have yet to see a walmart/can tire in BC that has no rifle or shotgun ammo.

They are cheaper on the calibers buy usually by several dollars. The local shops dont seem to understand this concept. However, walmart tends to get 3 boxes of 22 or 303 at a time and then be out for a couple of weeks until the computer sends them more.

The walmart I go to sells rifle ammo only aswell.. kinda sucks cuz i plan on getting into pistol shooting.. but I can get a box of .303 there for 24 bucks.. where the local home hardware charges 30+ .. cheaper prices always get me.. however the service at walmart is lacking quite a bit
